Hilton Mystic- Mystic, CT

As soon as we walked into the Hilton Mystic we felt the nautical atmosphere all around us.  From the port hole mirrors to the water cascading down the panels of the walls, there’s no mistaking the charm of maritime New England.  When we checked in we were given a choice to what floor we wanted to stay on.  When we said we had no preference they suggested if we were planning on using the pool we could stay in that wing.  We ended up loving that location because there is nothing worse than riding up in a cold elevator after swimming.

Our room was comfortable and quiet and the beds were amazing to sleep on.  The nautical theme is continued by the paintings on the walls of modern art.  I don’t like seeing clutter in a hotel room and so I appreciated that there were special cabinets that hid the coffee maker and ice bucket.  There was also a refrigerator, which was great because we brought our own waters.  Their complimentary Wi-Fi was appreciated because we all had some kind of electronic that needed it.

The hotel’s large pool is 3 ½ – 4 ½ feet deep so my kids could play without having to worry about a deep end.  While we were there the hotel staff came in several times to make sure there were fresh towels.  It was very clean (I’m really picky about dirty pools) and we spend about two hours playing in the water.

When I travel alone with my girls, I always am concerned about safety while in the hotel.  (I’m on the verge of obsessive about it.) I felt completely safe throughout our entire stay.  The room has a double locking door, a dead bolt, and an emergency call button on the phone.

There were many unique spots in the hotel that made you feel like you were away on a tropical vacation.  Just look at this amazing sitting area!  How could you not relax here?

The restaurant at the hotel did not have the feel of on-site hotel dining.  The IRONS has an industrial feel to it.  They were very welcoming to the kids and our waitress, MJ, was so attentive.   The restaurant uses locally-sourced seafood and local ingredients.  I had the baked scrod with roasted vegetables and it was delicious.  They have signature cocktails and over two dozen revolving craft beers on tap.

After dinner my girls and I were in the lobby looking at all the neat nautical decorations and they were so excited to go swimming that they left their IPad and Kindle on one of the couches.  They didn’t realize it until the next morning and I told them their electronics were most likely gone.  When we asked at the front desk we were shocked to find that they were locked up behind the desk.  Thank you to whoever was so honest to turn them in.

Location of this hotel can’t be beat.  It is a block off of Interstate-95.  Mystic Aquarium is right across the street and Olde Mystic Village is just a short walk on the same street. There are many restaurants in the area and the hotel offers complimentary shuttle service within a five-mile radius.

We had such a pleasant stay here at Hilton Mystic and we definitely will be returning.  The staff goes out of their way to make you feel like you are at a home away from home.

  1. It looks like y’all had so much fun! I went to Mystic once last year and thought it was just the cutest little town. This hotel seems nice too!

It is so cute isn’t it? It’s a great town. We had so much fun. The restaurant at the hotel was great and the girls loved the pool!

Ok. So, we’re going to Mystic this summer and we’re Hilton members. We were thinking of staying near my grandparents in Massachusetts, but this is really swaying me to want to stay in Mystic. Decisions Decisions. (Side note, I just discovered that Curious George goes to the Aquarium is based off of Mystic.)

I would completely recommend it. It’s right across the street so you don’t have to worry about parking and so many places to eat right around there. The staff was incredible. We’re Hilton members too and it was the best Hilton we’ve stayed at.
