I have a feeling there are many ladies out there making their Christmas lists because I’ve had several people email me this week asking for recommendations for spa resorts in New England. If you know me, you know there’s almost NOTHING I like better than a relaxing spa treatment, and especially when it is at a fabulous resort. The following are 10 spa resorts I’ve been dying to try in New England. Santa, if you’re reading this, they are all on my list and I haven’t been naughty!
CLIFF HOUSE, Cape Neddick, ME
The Cliff House, which is perched on the edge of the rocky coast of Maine, has held a special place in my heart since I fell in love with it 17 years ago, while planning my wedding. Unfortunately, they were already booked for the day we wanted but I’ve been dreaming of it ever since. This summer the Cliff House has reopened after a major renovation and has become more stunning than I could have ever imagined!
The spa embraces “wild and free” elements of coastal Maine, and channels water, stone, sky and sand. It serves as an oasis for guests to rejuvenate and recharge through a circuit of saunas, steam rooms and treatment spaces.

HIDDEN POND, Kennebunkport, ME
Hidden Pond’s unique spa has made me crazy about trying it because it is nestled in the treetops, overlooking the beach forest, The three treetop spa rooms, eight feet above the ground, are connected by a catwalk woven through the trees. How amazing is that? Treatments also incorporate ingredients picked fresh from Hidden Pond’s gardens, including rosemary, mint, and lavender.
MY DREAM TREATMENT: Maine Honey Body Buzz with Warm Remedy Wrap
Their signature body treatment begins with a skin smoothing, body-brightening exfoliation using an organic scrub to alleviate dryness and restore suppleness. After attending a wedding reception here some years back, I’ve always wanted to return to experience their spa. The spa seems so peaceful and inviting. The only problem is having to choose which treatment you’ll have since they all sound so good!

Multiple hand techniques including brushing, kneading, and rolling are used to massage the body, while acupressure techniques are integrated to better the flow of Qi, or energy, through the muscles. An excellent approach to healing tendons, ligaments, and joints.

I’ve always looked up in awe at this gorgeous hotel with its classic British elegance. The architecture of the building makes you feel like you are in Europe but their location is perfect…right in the heart of Boston. Balance the yin and yang energies through the use of hot (yang) and cold (yin) stones.
