Portugal holds a special place in my heart.  My family is 100% Portuguese and I try my hardest to instill our culture into our life.  In 2012 I brought my husband, daughters, and mother-in-law to Portugal to show them firsthand where our family comes from.  The most amazing part of the trip was to see our girls soaking up the local food, activities, and people.  They tried every food we put in front of them including octopus, squid, sausage, even pig’s ear! We explored castles, swam at the beach, strolled the villages, and ate lots of authentic Portuguese cuisine.  This was by far the best trip my family has ever taken!

For this trip I wanted them to experience the different lifestyles of the country so we spent time on the island of St. Miguel in the Azores, a beachside town of Cascais, a medieval walled village of Obidos, and city life in Lisbon.  We did several day trips such as Batalha, Nazare, and Sintra.

****We went back to Portugal right before this crazy Corona virus hit the US, so I have many posts coming about this trip.  Keep an eye out this summer for many more Portugal ideas!
