Blue Lagoon Island

Who doesn’t daydream of spending the day on their own private tropical island? A trip to Blue Lagoon Island will let you live out this dream as you spend the day lounging on a pristine beach or having water adventures…whatever your heart desires.

It all starts as soon as you are picked up in their high-speed, double-decker catamaran.  We enjoyed stunning views of Nassau Harbor and Paradise Island as crystal blue water soared under us.  When we pulled up to the island the sand was a white powder and the lounge chairs called to us as we walked down the dock.

The clear turquoise waters looked like a scene from a movie and we couldn’t wait to jump in.

As you lay in the hammocks, or sit in lounge chairs, you hear the chirping of tropical birds as the breeze flows through the coconut palm trees…but there was no time for sitting around because we had some adventures to do first!

First, we got to do something I never though was possible…a sea lion encounter! This was a once in a lifetime activity. Our sea lion, Bonnie, was the cutest thing I’ve ever seen! We were divided into groups of ten and walked down to the dock to get in the water and learn about their teeth, nails, flippers, and their natural habitat.  Bonnie showed off some amazing skills and cracked us up with her funny personality.  We loved hearing they would not make her do anything she didn’t want to do…she was in charge!

At the end of our visit we were able to get a nice hug from her.

We also got a sweet kiss!

We loved every minute of our time with her!

This 30-minute encounter costs:

Adults & Children $109

After hanging out with Bonnie, we headed over for lunch.  It was quite the Caribbean beach buffet…offering burgers, hot dogs, BBQ chicken, pasta salad, rice and beans, a garden salad, and several other yummy treats.

The most memorable part of our day was being able to swim with dolphins. We were so excited to be given the Royal Dolphin Swim, which is an hour and a half of dolphin fun.  After a brief orientation, we were divided into groups of ten and brought over to the lagoon to learn about the behavior of our two female dolphins, Laguna and Belle.

We got the chance to give them a hug,

A kiss,

And even got to dance with them as they sang us a little tune!

The most thrilling part of that encounter was a Superman ride we did by lying on out stomach with our legs held straight while the two dolphins pushed us across the water!  I was a little nervous at first and almost backed out but I’m so happy I did it because it was amazing!

The first dolphin experience was so unbelievable that we would have been happy with just that.  You have no idea how happy we were when we were told that there was another half to this experience!  My girls practically jumped up and down…ok…so did I! We were led to a shallow lagoon beach where we met two male dolphins called Sean and Goombay.  Our first adventure was getting pulled by the boys while we held on to their dorsal fins.  It was a nice smooth ride!

When we got to the shore we partnered up and did star turns.

We were told how fast dolphins are, but now it was time to experience it as we perched on a boogey board and had one of the boys push our foot as we got to steer around the lagoon.

We had time for a few more pats and kisses, and some snuggling.  We’ve done a few dolphin experiences, but this was the best we’ve ever done since there was so much interaction with them.

Cost of the experience (also includes the Beach Day):

Adults & Children $249

The private beach is unspoiled, calm and secluded.  There were lounge chairs, but we came here for the water! We had fun using the tubes provided!

My girls also loved using the inflatable water park!  I love that there was a lifeguard and that every person had to wear a life jacket.

Since we had brought snorkel equipment to use at the condo, we decided to bring them, but it was too choppy on the north side of the beach to snorkel.    Don’t have snorkel gear?  That’s fine because you can rent some on the island.  We did enjoy playing in the waves of this beach.

It was such a lovely setting!

I can’t believe the cost!!

Your entire day (not including the animal encounters) costs just

$69 for adults and $45 for children.

Tips for a perfect day

The island offers restrooms, changing rooms, and shower facilities.

Feel like a frozen drink? Then head on over to the Beach Bar.  I believe you must have cash for the bar.

If you would like to purchase pictures from your animal encounters, and plan on using a credit card, you will need your driver’s license.

Get to the dock early so you won’t be stressed out like we were.  Don’t trust the water taxi to get you over the bridge because they run on their own schedule. (We learned that the hard way…lol)

There is a gift shop on the island.

Don’t forget to bring sunscreen and a towel.

Give them a follow!
