Frost Ice Loft

If you want to do something completely different from any Boston experience, Frost Ice Loft is the perfect spot.  When you get to the doors you are dressed in puffy insolated capes and gloves and as soon as the doors open you see (and feel) why.  After a few minutes in the acclimation room, you step in and are completely surrounded by amazing formations of ice.  It is the only building material for the walls, furniture, bar, tables, and couches.  Even your glasses are completely made of ice.  The cape is a welcomed accessory since they keep the room at a constant 21 degrees.

I know what you’re thinking…kids are allowed in a bar? Yes and no.  The first time I went was with my husband and our friends but when we were there I noticed a couple that had their children and I thought it was the coolest thing (no pun intended).  So I thought it would be a neat experience for the girls to see all the sculptures since they really are works of art.  During the day Frost is like a frozen museum…and yes my girls made several Elsa and Anna references, but at night it transforms into a bar atmosphere.  Frost is completely family friendly, with children welcomed until 6:00. 

I knew my kids would like it but I had no idea how much they would LOVE it! From the minute we walked in they were in awe of the décor.  They walked around looking at the details in each ice sculpture. The fish tank was one of their favorites as well as the colorful Minion.  Several sculptures were focused towards kids so they felt very welcomed.  The staff were all so nice, especially our bartender who went out of his way to make the girls feel special.  He even offered to take pictures of us and came out from behind the bar to do it in front of the Frost sculpture.  I highly recommend stopping in if you’re ever in Boston.

Tips:

• Frost Ice Loft is located in Faneuil Hall Marketplace, Boston:  200 State Street, North Building, 3^rd floor.
• Winter hours: Monday-Thursday 3-9, Friday & Saturday 12-10, Sunday 12-8.  Hours change seasonally so make sure you check the website!  There are also different times for holidays and school vacation.
• Cost: Adults: $12, Children 13+, seniors, military: $10, Kids under 12: $6
• Guests must be 6 (or as the website states…at least really tall 5 year olds!)
• There are tons of fun cocktails, both alcoholic and nonalcoholic.
• They provide complimentary lockers to store your bags before you go in.
• Tickets can be purchased online as well as in the kiosk located in the Faneuil Hall courtyard.
