For 20 years I have been driving through Freeport to visit family and I always gazed at the Harraseeket Inn and wished I could stay there. (Wait…20 years…ouch…how old am I?) I feel so lucky I finally was given the opportunity to visit and it lived up to everything I imagined.  I appreciate when a hotel is elegant but also make my kids feel comfortable.   The inn made them feel so welcomed and they had an amazing two nights there.

LOCATION: The Harraseeket Inn has the perfect location in Freeport, Maine.  It is only two blocks from amazing shopping and delicious restaurants, yet it is far enough that you feel distanced from the crowd.

CHECK-IN: We could not have felt more welcomed when we checked into the inn.  I had called the day before to ask what I could do about an antibiotic for my daughter that needed to be refrigerated.  They told me not to worry about it and when I arrived I was so pleased to see they had brought a refrigerator into our room.  This was just the beginning of the kindness the inn showed my daughters and I.

OUR ROOM: When we walked in the room my daughter immediately had me text my husband asking him to build them a quarter canopy bed.  They were beautiful and added such charm to the room.  The room was spacious and included an area with a couch and work station.  Don’t even get me started on the sheets.  Seriously…I think they were the most comfortable sheets I have ever experienced.  If I didn’t have the kids with me I don’t know if I would have ever left the bed.  The Egyptian cotton sateen made us all have the best nights of sleep.

BATHROOM: The bathroom was spacious with a large vanity, which made it easy for the three of us to get ready in the morning.  My favorite treats were the ridiculously comfy terrycloth robes the inn provides.

TEA TIME!  We arrived at the inn at the perfect time…Afternoon Tea! The inn offers an impressive tea each day from 3:30-4:30 (4:00-5:00 on Sundays). Afternoon Tea takes place in the drawing room, a serene room with leather couches, a piano, and mahogany paneled walls.  They offer a large variety of tea, as well as an assortment of cookies, cakes, bars, and pastries.  They do a wonderful job incorporating local Maine products such as cheese and fruit.  We all loved the wild Maine blueberries.

POOL: The indoor pool was so much fun for my girls.  It was large and the room had so many windows that lets in light that you almost felt like you were outdoors.  It was a rainy day when we checked in so they spend the afternoon swimming laps, racing each other across the pool, and jumping in.

FITNESS ROOM:  The fitness room overlooks the pool area and it is air conditioned.  They provide fresh water for you to enjoy during your workouts.

BROAD STREET TAVERN: We had the most delicious dinner at their casual Broad Street Tavern. The muscles were made with a hazelnut butter and were the best I’ve ever had.  The open-concept kitchen is great entertainment for kids.  The seafood is fresh and you can taste the local ingredients.

BREAKFAST: You never know what to expect with breakfast, but at the Harraseeket Inn breakfast is no joke.  They had a huge selection of eggs, home fries, blueberry pancakes, yogurts, pastries, fresh fruit, and much more.  You must try their granola! It was the perfect way to start the day.

PET-FRIENDLY: As a dog lover, I admire hotels that go the extra mile for our furry little friends.  The inn offers several pet friendly rooms.  They provide dog treats with their turn-down service, as well as cozy dog beds.  They can arrange for dog sitting, dog walking, and even grooming. The best part is that 20% of their pet charge fee is donated to the Coastal Humane Society in Brunswick, Maine.

The Harraseeket Inn is filled with classic New England charm and they pay close attention to details to create an unforgettable stay.  I can’t believe I waited 20 years to come here.  I will definitely return.

A warm thank you to the Harraseeket Inn for having my family as guests of your inn.  The kind hospitality of your staff and the comfort of the inn made it an amazing stay.  As always, all experiences and opinions are 100% my own.
