Over the last few weeks, we’ve had the opportunity to try out so many great products while in self-isolation. I’d love to share with you some of our favorite things that we think travelers will love! Take a peek…
Enjoy!
Creativity is something I try to encourage in my kids. In fact, this summer they have written “Do something creative” on their daily To Do lists. This kit is compact enough that kids can bring with them as they travel. It is great for any ability and age level. We were given two pens. The first was the 3Doodler Start “Learn from Home” pen set. I love that it doesn’t have any external hot spots so it’s perfect for ages 6-13.
It also came with 200 additional strands of 3Doodler Start plastic refills.
The second pen we got was the 3Doodler Create “Learn from Home” pen set.
This set is perfect for ages 14+

You know me…I LOVE a good cocktail and am always on the search for my next favorite. If you look at my Pinterest page, you’ll see I have a huge board devoted to them. The problem is that I pin them but never get around to making them. I hate gathering and shopping for all the ingredients I need, so those recipes end up going unused. I have finally found a solution…American Cocktail Club! This monthly cocktail subscription is what my dreams are made of!
The company says that, “being part of the Club is like having the coveted seat at a high-level mixology bar.” I couldn’t agree more! This box gives you everything you need to make a delicious cocktail at home. If you already have a fully stocked bar, you can choose an alcohol-free box, where they provide everything except the liquor. American Cocktail Club will allow you to create a large variety of cocktails you may never have chosen for yourself. It also helps you develop some great bartending skills.
EVERYTHING BOX: Contains everything…even the liquor…to create 4 drinks.
EVERYTHING BUT THE BOOZE BOX: Contains everything…EXCEPT the liquor, to create 4 drinks.
As important as it is for kids to get outside, it’s also important to get your teens out there! I’ve had so many friends complaining that their teens are constantly on their phone…especially since we are stranded at home during this pandemic. I know that YouTube and Tic Tok can take over my house if we’re not careful. I swear…it can be an obsession. However, if my girls get outside and have some fun, they don’t feel the need to jump on their phones. The key is to help them find things to do outside that they love.
As many of you know, I drink a cup of tea every day. Some days I drink it in the morning for a burst of caffeine, some days I drink it iced cold in the afternoon, and some nights I enjoy a hot cup of tea in bed. I love trying different types of tea from around the world, and now with Simple Loose Leaf Tea subscription box you can let your taste buds travel around the world without leaving your couch. Let me show you a peek at their box…
I love that they are a family run company that likes to share their passion for tea. Brewing tea can actually be quite hard to do because they all require different methods. Simple Loose Tea makes it easy to brew the perfect cup of tea because each packet of tea has information about that specific tea. For example, it gives you the origin of the tea, whether it has caffeine, how long to brew it, what temperature to brew it, and how much loose tea to use for a cup.
I also love that you can see through the back of each packet.
EACH BOX INCLUDES
4 new hand-selected premium loose leaf teas
10 grams (0.35oz) of each loose leaf tea
It is so important for kids to get outside…especially when we are stranded at home during this pandemic. It’s so easy to let kids play on electronics, but it is so bad for them and it sucks up all their time if you let it. I spent my childhood making memories outside and I want my kids to experience the same. The key is to help them find things to do outside that they love.

One of my favorite things about travel is experiencing the different cultures, and a great way to do that is through local food and drinks. One thing I always try to do is start my day with a cup of local coffee. It’s amazing how different they can all taste. Since we are practicing social isolation, it is sad to think that our adventures abroad are on hold. With Atlas Coffee Club, you can experience delicious coffee from countries all around the world while learning all about what makes that country unique. Their coffee is curated and procured from all around the globe, so you can take lots of adventures without leaving your kitchen.
When you subscribe, you get to choose the amount you get each month, how often you receive it, your roast preference, and your grind type (ground or whole bean). All of the coffee they source use sustainable farming practices. I also love how fresh their coffee it. Their team roasts every morning, with each batch of coffee being roasted often within hours, if not minutes, of being shipped out.
A curation of the world’s best single origin coffee.
Coffee & postcard from a new country each month.
Tasting notes & brewing tips for each batch.
Your personalized preferences, on your schedule.
10 Things to Look for When Renting a Lake House
After so many months of self-isolation, many people are hoping to salvage some sort of normalcy and go on a summer vacation with their family. Many people are not crazy about the idea of going to a hotel and being surrounded by other people. So what could be the solution? A lake house! Are people renting lake houses? Absolutely! We own a rental property on a lake and we were worried that everyone would cancel their reservations for this summer. Not only has no one canceled, but we even have 6 families on a wait list. It’s a great alternative to a hotel because you have your own space and don’t have to worry about being in contact with people other than your family. If you are looking to rent a lake house, there are some things you need to consider. I wrote this article a few summers ago and have updated it with specific tips about COVID-19.
Location can make or break a trip. There are lots of things to consider. Is the house on a quiet bay or on a channel where boats will constantly be going by? Is it lakefront, lake view, or away from the water but with lake access? It’s also good to know a little about the lake itself. Is the house located near a sandbar that’s know for it’s crowds? You may want to ask how close the neighbors are.
