When we pulled into the parking lot of the Common Man Inn and Spa, we noticed they had parking reserved for snowmobiles. That warmed my heart! The beautiful inn was created in 2001 when they transformed a 60,000-square foot wood mill. They have managed to keep the historical structure of the building and combine it with modern amenities. The result is a warm, inviting inn with unique architecture.
Check-In was a pleasure because of the warm greeting we received from the staff. We were given a map of the hotel and they pointed out the location of the restaurant, café, elevator, fitness room, spa, and pool. We were told about breakfast and dinner options. Our walk to our room was so fun as we stopped to look at all the rustic details of the lobby and hallways.
We also spent some time in the Common Man shop, where they sells Common Man products, snacks, beverages, clothing, gifts, and toiletries.
I can’t stop gushing about our room to every person I’ve met since our stay. It was the most unique experience we’ve ever had in a room. Our suite, called The Lodge, is one of three signature suites at the inn. It is created to look and feel like your very own cabin. Words can’t describe how cool this room is so let me show you around. After coming through your door, the first thing you encounter is another entrance! How fun is this?
As you go through the screen door, this is the first view of your room. How amazing is this?
A warm fire greeted us.
The room featured a four-poster log king size bed with comfortable sheets and down comforters. It also offered a variety of pillows so I could choose which size felt right for me.
Next to my room was a sitting room that featured a day bed with a trundle. This would be perfect for two kids to share. That room had its own TV and desk and allowed my daughter to have her own space.
Her favorite feature of the room is the window that separates the two rooms because she could see me through it.
The bathroom had a large Jacuzzi tub with jets. It also had New Hampshire-made goat soap and lotion that you could buy in the store downstairs. I loved the local New England touch it added.
And these robes…honestly, I could have stayed in these the entire stay. Really…I wish I could have worn them to dinner!
Throughout our stay, my daughter and I kept pointing out details in the room because there was so much to look at! They did an amazing job allowing you to feel just like you were in a cabin. My daughter and I pretended the bathroom was the outhouse and when we would go through the screen door we would warn each other to watch out for bobcats and bears. One of my favorite features is the tin roof. The rugs placed on top of the wood floor gave the room a comfortable feel like home.
The pool area of the Common Man Inn and Spa is the perfect place to relax and have some fun. The heated pool is kept at a nice temperature
and the roof is absolutely stunning.
There is plenty of seating in the pool area and there is even a nice corner with couches and a fireplace.
Our favorite spot in the pool area was the hot tub. The strong jets massaged your shoulders and the waterfall would cascade behind you as you slip away into relaxation.
Spa Time!
I can honestly say I had the most amazing massage at the Common Man Inn and Spa. Cheryl was magical in making the stress melt right away. I had planned on my family waiting in our room during my massage but my older daughter sprained her foot at a dance the night before so it was just my 8-year-old and myself on this trip. Cheryl invited her into the room and said she didn’t mind at all if she sat and played her electronics. I loved that because it let me truly relax knowing she was fine. She was as quiet as a mouse and I kept forgetting she was there.
I had a Common Man Classic, which is a Swedish style massage that is said to increase circulation, relieve tension, and promote relaxation. Everything about the massage was perfect…from the pressure to the lighting to the music. I am pretty picky when it comes to spa treatments and I truly recommend this spa!
Foster’s Boiler Room
We had the pleasure of dining in Foster’s Boiler Room and it was a wonderful experience. Our waitress, Courtney, was attentive and knowledgeable and gave wonderful suggestions on food choices. The décor is a rustic, industrial look with exposed beams and pipes. I absolutely love this look and I especially love their huge light fixture on the ceiling. My daughter loved their large-screen projection television she could see from her seat. We watched a basketball game, which was perfect since she scored her first basket of the season at her game that morning. (Proud mom moment!) My daughter had a huge burger that had the softest bun. I had the Foster’s Duck Melt with pulled confit, bacon jam, crispy onions, and cheddar on sourdough. I can’t tell you how delicious it was. For dessert, she had the Peanut Butter Cup and I had the Snowballs (vanilla ice cream rolled in coconut and walnuts).
I also peeked in and saw they have a gorgeous private room in a wine cellar.
