Review of Eat2explore

Like many of you, our family is so upset about having to put a hold on all of our travel plans.  I’ve been spending this time ‘virtually traveling’ by experimenting with new meals and cocktails from different countries. Eat2Explore, a cooking subscription box, is the perfect way to do this.  Since we are all at home practicing social isolation, it’s a great time to try new activities and create lifelong memories with your family.

I love that the creators of this box have the same beliefs as I do.  They feel mealtime should be an experience and cooking are life-skills everyone should have.  They also feel hands-on cooking and culture explorations is even more important in today’s world.  My daughters and I had so much fun cooking with this box.  I even played French music while we were cooking.

What do I love about this box?

I love that there are three different exploration options.  The first choice is to explore a country (1 or 3 countries).  You could also choose to explore a continent (4 countries).  Finally, you could choose to explore the world (12 countries). With every package, you will receive a new country box each month.

What did we get in our Eat2explore box?

We were able to choose our country so we chose

FRANCE.

Our first meal was Boeuf Bourguignon.

(The kits included a braisin’ mix.)

It had simple ingredients like potatoes, carrots, pearl onions, mushrooms, and beef. It was delicious and was perfect to make on a chilly, rainy night.

Our next meal was Salmon en papillote.

(The kits included an épices délicates and a tarra herble mix)

I had to change this meal a little bit because I couldn’t find acorn squash at the store, so I set aside that herb mixture to make it next week.  I did smell the seasoning and it had a warm, delicious aroma that even had cinnamon in it.  Can’t wait to try it next week, but I may change it up and make it on the grill.

I went to the farmers market this week and bought some halibut and sea bass so I decided to use those instead of the salmon.  I didn’t use parchment paper but it came out perfectly in the oven in a roasting pan. I love that you can alter parts of the recipe to make it work for your family.  The fish came out amazing! I love the idea that you add the seasoning to the room temperature butter and then spoon it onto the fish.  I’m going to continue using this method throughout the summer. I paired ours with a corn salad.

Finally, our last meal was Poulet Roti (French roast chicken).

This chicken was one of they best whole chickens I’ve ever made.  It was juicy and so flavorful.  The seasoning mix made it perfect and even the kids had seconds and they are known for complaining when I make chicken.

(The kits included a zesty Provence mix and an oo-la-la gravy mix.)
