The SEE Science Center is located in one of the beautiful old mill buildings in Manchester, NH. It consists of 2 floors of hands-on exhibits that cater to toddlers as well as older kids. I loved that each activity explains the science behind it, as well as encourages kids to make a hypothesis or align the activity to a part of their lives.
Kids will have so much fun exploring topics such as force, light, sound, electricity, simple machines, and much more. My girls were entertained for 2 hours and could have kept going. It is a fun place to use your creativity (pretending the submarine is under attack) while also getting out some energy (pulling yourself up with a pulley). It is a great place that will hold the attention of both kids and parents and is filled with activities you can enjoy together.
These were just a few of our favorites parts:
Lego Millyard Display:
As you walk down the stair you immediately run into an enormous Lego display of the old mills. Since my girls are so in love with Legos, they just kept going around and around looking at all the details of the display. Some of their favorite sections included the amusement park, market, town square, and the working train tracks. The Lego exhibit shows what life was like in the mill buildings in the early 1900’s.
Dinosaurs Exhibit
While we were at the SEE Science Center we were able to see a temporary display about dinosaurs. It was such a neat display that my girls went through it three times. Unfortunately, the display left January 30th, but check back because I know it comes back to Manchester often.
If you are a dinosaur lover you will absolutely flip for this exhibit. Here you will be introduced to 6 species of dinosaurs, 2 Cretaceous creatures, and a pterosaur. These 14 robots come to life as you walk through dark rooms with the sound of nature all around you.
My favorite was the 22-foot Tyrannosaurus Rex. My older daughter loved the maiasaura that was watching her eggs hatch, but my younger daughter loved the tenontosarus that was eating its prey. Each display had information about each dinosaur including what their name means, where they were located, their size, and characteristics of the species.
