Lake Opechee Inn and Spa
My kids are so fun to travel with, but every once in a while, it’s nice to be alone to relax. Since the end of the school year is full of obligations, I thought this would be a great time to rejuvenate before the final stretch of school. I couldn’t have imagined how relaxed I would feel when I left.
When I pulled up to the Lake Opechee Inn and Spa I thought it was such a beautiful boutique inn. It is located in Laconia, New Hampshire, where there are plenty of restaurants and shops, yet the inn is set back from the town so you feel like you are miles away from other people. The lake is stunning and it is the smaller sister lake of Lake Winnipesaukee and Lake Winnisquam. The dark wood on the outside of the inn gave it a rustic, welcoming feel.
This charming inn has 34 guestrooms that are all decorated in their own individual style. My room, the Boat House room, was so lovely and I felt at home as soon as I walked in because the inn truly focuses on the details of each room. One wall was decorated with cedar siding and had a window leading into the bathroom, so I felt like I was in a quaint cabin on the lake. The bed had a goose down feather bed as well as a down comforter that was so comfortable I sank into it and it led to an amazing night of sleep. I practically had to force myself out of bed in the morning.
There was a comfortable sitting area near the television, that had two cozy chairs and an ottoman. From the sitting area, you had a nice view of the lake.
The ambiance of the room was set by the gas fireplace. All I had to do was flip a switch and my mood relaxed. I loved turning it on when I was relaxing in the afternoon because it was chilly and rainy outside.
The room had a balcony with two chairs that overlooked the lake. I imagine it would be a lovely spot to sit when the weather is warmer.
The view through the French door, from the bed, was so peaceful and was a lovely sight to wake up to.
The room had complimentary Wi-Fi, as well as a coffee/tea maker. It was so nice to make a cup of coffee and drink it in my room in the morning while reading the complimentary newspaper left at my door. The room also offered a refrigerator, hairdryer, iron, and ironing board. However, there was no ironing for me on this trip…I was here to relax!
Being a dog lover, I appreciate that the inn reserves two rooms for our furry little friends. I can imagine that with the beautiful setting, lake, and walking trail, it would be a dream vacation for a pup.
My bathroom was so large and had an incredible Jacuzzi bath tub. It was deep and had powerful jets. The inn provided a mint scented bath oil that was a nice touch for the bath. The inn also provides a plush robe for all their guests. I may have to put one on my Christmas list because it was the softest robe I’ve worn in a while.
The inn has a lovely indoor soaking pool. It is a cute little area that lets you relax while having a view of the lake. It also has a hot tub, but it was closed for maintenance on the day I was there.
The Tranquility Springs Wellness Spa was the spot I was most looking forward to spending my afternoon. I wanted to get lost in the moment and let my stress melt away. This was the perfect place to do it! The locker room was clean and well organized. They provided lots of shower amenities such as shampoo, conditioner, mouthwash, lotion, and hair styling products. There is a changing room as well as a shower. There is also an infrared healing sauna in the locker room.
The spa had a robe lounge where you wait for your services. Soft music played and it was so tranquil that I could have just stayed there for the hour.
It had a refreshment center filled with teas, water, and a strawberry drink.
My massage was unlike anything I have ever experienced. I don’t want to give too much away because I’ve got a blog piece coming out that’s all about it, but let’s just say this was the one time I didn’t mind someone WALKING ALL OVER ME! The masseuse was courteous and customized my treatment so it was specifically for me. It was absolutely not a cookie cutter massage. When I walked out I felt like mush…which is the exact feeling I was aiming for.

Dinner at O Steak & Seafood was such a treat. The restaurant is located just off their lobby area and it was a delicious restaurant that I will definitely return to. The food was delicious. I met a college friend that I hadn’t seen in years and it was the perfect place to catch up. We both had a salad and a side of their famous lobster mac n’ cheese. It was one of the best I’ve ever had. The cocktails were delicious and they have a good selection of specialty drinks. The open kitchen gave a nice rustic feel to the restaurant and it is definitely family friendly.
The inn also has a private wine tasting room where you can enjoy one of 32 wines chosen by the chef.
The inn provides a wonderful way to start your day with their complimentary breakfast. The breakfast room is really charming with its large stone fireplace and antique cook stove. The breakfast buffet has everything you need for a nutritious start including hard boiled eggs, cereal, toast, yogurt, fresh fruit, and pastries. The inn gives you the option of taking your breakfast back to your room, which is more comfortable for me when I’m staying somewhere alone.
Lodge Room
The inn has a lodge room that features a sitting area next to their large stone fireplace. It is a great place to get lost in a good book. Your family can also complete a puzzle or play a board game. In the room next door, you can play a game of billiards.
There are so many places to sit and relax throughout the inn that it’s easy to find a spot to yourself. Just look at this lovely room that is located near the front door.
There is also this cozy space.
So many areas where you can relax.
There is even outdoor space to enjoy.
The inn has a wonderful shop located near the reception area.
Staff
The staff at the inn were so warm and welcoming. They were always ready to answer a question, give information about the inn, or just offer a smile as you walk by. The staff in the spa were courteous and friendly and made me feel comfortable as soon as I walked in.
