Archer Hotel, Napa
We continued our long West Coast weekend away from the kids by heading to the Archer Hotel in Napa. Besides the gorgeous décor, it has a restaurant, rooftop bar, fitness center, and spa. The hotel, which opened in 2017, has 183 rooms, including 39 suites that have balconies. It is also in the perfect location. It is on First Street, right in the center of a walkable downtown full of restaurants and live music venues. It is also within walking distance to over 20 tasting rooms! Sounds just about perfect!
As you enter the hotel, you walk below what seems to be a back-lit grape arbor.
The lobby then opens up into a large sky-framed atrium.
My favorite feature is this large-scale solid terrain modeling map that lets a spatially-confused person like myself, get a better sense of where everything is located in the valley.
Ok…time to take a peek at our room…
I figured if we were going to do Napa, we were going to do it right so chose to stay in an Archer King Suite with Balcony. We had a beautiful King four-poster canopy bed with premium 100% cotton linens, a plush mattress, down duvet, and down pillows.
Our room has a classy feel with the wood plank porcelain tile, rug, and leather corner sofa. It had a 65-inch television, device docking, alarm clock radio, hair dryer, iron, and ironing board. There was also a temperature-controlled wine fridge, which is a must-have while in Napa!
So, what made me choose this specific room? THIS BALCONY!!! Our room had an enormous furnished balcony with a gas fireplace that provided a unique indoor-outdoor living space overlooking downtown Napa. It was the perfect place to enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning or sip on some wine under the stars at night.
Our bathroom had a gorgeous black and white frosted bathroom wall, designed by Robert Buelteman, that extended to a cove-lit headboard wall. It had a white porcelain tile walk-in shower with pebble stone flooring, soaking tub, makeup/shaving mirror, and bath amenities.
The room had soft bathrobes…and a pair of complimentary whimsical slippers!
I love the way boutique hotels are able to add personal touches to their rooms.
Thank you so much for making us immediately feel welcome.
Rooftop Bar
We decided to check out the rooftop bar on our first afternoon there. It offers breathtaking 360-degree panoramic views of the valley as well as downtown Napa. There were plenty of places to sit, like fire pits surrounded by rocking chairs, and even cabanas with stone fireplaces.
We had some delicious Moscow mules while playing a game of Jenga at our table. It was a fun way to relax before heading out for dinner.
The rooftop bar, Sky & Vine, offers a light menu, so we got some appetizers with our cocktails. Check out their menu.
My favorite features of the rooftop were the living topiary sculpture with succulent plants and other greeneries. They were the coolest things and I want one in my own backyard!
The rooftop also has a shallow water deck.
Charlie Palmer Steak
Feeling hungry? On our second night we were so excited to dine at Charlie Palmer Steak at Archer, located in the hotel. Before dinner, make sure you head over to the bar to have a cocktail.
The atmosphere was classic, yet rustic, and everyone was friendly and knowledgeable of the menu.
This meal was the best one we had in Napa. Let me show you what we had, but I warn you…you’re going to get hungry!
We started with oysters on the half shell. (with champagne mignonette, cocktail sauce, and lemon).
Our main course was a delicious Tomahawk steak that we shared.
It came with a large selection of sauces to choose from.
We also had some brussel sprouts (with brown butter, lardons, and sage).
We also shared a truffle and bacon twice baked potato.
We were so full at the end of our meal but we couldn’t resist their famous dessert…peanut butter terrine (with banana cremeaux, and curried candy peanuts).
Want a good workout? Their state-of-the-art rooftop fitness studio offers Matrix cardio, free weights and an outdoor deck. It’s the perfect spot to start your day!
Need some pampering? The spa offers a selection of massages, bodywork and facials designed to relax and rejuvenate. There are even some rooms that allow in-room services.
Concierge: The concierge was a lifesaver for me because she helped me figure out a whole new itinerary for wineries since Mother Nature ruined my original plan. She also got me reservations at a restaurant that was showing as “full” on Open Table. Finally, she got me 2 free tastings at an amazing winery. Give them a visit at the concierge table in the main lobby.
