Avon Old Farms Hotel
Avon, Connecticut
If you’re planning a visit to the charming town of Avon, Connecticut, let me introduce you to a beautiful hotel that perfectly blends classic New England charm with modern comfort—the Avon Old Farms Hotel. Nestled in the heart of Farmington Valley, this beautiful hotel offers more than just a place to stay; it’s an experience you’ll want to come back to.
First Impression
Avon Old Farms Hotel boasts a convenient yet serene location. About a 20-minute drive from Hartford, the classic red-brick façade and beautifully manicured grounds are a great first impression. The colonial-style architecture immediately sets a warm and inviting tone, making you feel like you’ve stepped into a cozy New England retreat. It’s no wonder why it earned Avon Old Farms Hotel a “Best of the Best” distinction by Yankee Magazine.
You won’t want to leave this front lobby!
The lobby has endless spots to sit and relax or gather with friends and family.
My favorite spot is the lovely sofa that is perfectly placed in front of the fireplace.
There are lots of nooks for quiet conversation or reading.
I love that they have a puzzle table set up so guests can help complete it.
Let me show you around my room.
The hotel is made up of 2 sections and I stayed in the main building in room 154, a
Luxury King
I could not believe how large my room was! It was so comfortable and welcoming. The upholstered bed was large and the down comforters and pillows were so soft. It made me feel like I was staying in a friend’s guestroom rather than in a hotel. The furniture was classic and not your typical hotel furnishing.
I loved the comfortable sitting area. It was a great place to read a magazine in these beautiful gray and white cozy chairs.
The large wall mirror was fabulous and was perfect for getting ready in the morning.
I loved the built-in shelves that had a variety of books and seashells on it. It’s the attention to detail that makes a room unforgettable.
There was a beautiful desk in case you wanted to get some work done.
The room was beautifully decorated with original watercolors of New England scenery.
Have a peek at the bathroom
The bathroom was simple yet functional. It had a lovely white tiled floor and blue accent pieces.
I love the porcelain possibly holders in the bathroom. I also love that there were shells in the bathroom. Again, another attention to detail and personal touch. The bathroom had a hamper, cosmetic mirror, and even a scale!
Quick pause for a heartfelt thank you…
Thank you so much for the welcome treat. It was so sweet of you!
Perfect balance between comfort and elegance.
Whether you choose a standard room or a deluxe suite, you’ll find tasteful décor, plush bedding, and modern conveniences like free Wi-Fi and flat-screen TVs. Many rooms feature charming touches like four-poster beds and scenic views of the surrounding countryside. The ambiance throughout the hotel is serene and welcoming, making it the perfect spot to unwind after a day of exploring.
As much as I loved my room, I couldn’t wait to explore the grounds.
Let me show you around the main lobby.
My first stop was back to the front lobby to make myself a delicious warm drink at their coffee bar. Here you can make delicious drinks like lattes, cappuccinos, espressos, etc.
I loved that there was a welcome dish of cheese and crackers. This is such a nice treat for guests who are checking in.
There are lobbies that people check in and simply walk on through, but not this one. The hotel has created a community space that people will linger in and enjoy.
Families can sit and enjoy a game.
Or get comfortable, put your feet up, and get lost in a good book.
It is such a beautiful spot and you can walk right to the original inn without going outside.
Let’s head to the backyard…
Grab your coffee, head to the backyard of the main inn, and grab a chair next to the babbling stream. It’s the perfect place to relax. kick your feet up, and enjoy the fresh air.
There are lots of places where you can sit and just enjoy some peace and quiet. Since the seating areas are spread out, you will never feel crowded.
The gazebos are beautiful. I love the moss growing on top…reminds me of a fairytale.
There are two adorable bridges that cross the stream that scream quintessential New England charm.
My family would love this life-size chess set.
In cooler weather you can relax at the firepits scattered around the property.
Let’s head into the main inn.
I’ve got to show you the stunning lobby of the main inn.
The staircase is the focal point and I can imagine that it would be the perfect place to take wedding or prom photos. Those winding staircases are begging for you to take a picture.
There are several lovely couches and chairs set up around the lobby, allowing friends and family to gather.
The entrance is gorgeous!
Time to have dinner with my bestie
It was fate that I was visiting a hotel that is less than a ten-minute drive to my childhood best friend’s house. She has attended weddings at Avon Old Farms Hotel so she was thrilled to join me for dinner.
The walk down from the main lobby to Seasons Restaurant is so pretty. There’s lots of adorable places to sit before dinner.
The light shining through it in the afternoon was so lovely.
Head there early to use the billiard table.
And wait for your table in their cozy coach area.
Seasons Restaurant
We decided to eat in the Tap Room because…wait for it…on Wednesdays from 6:00- 8:00 there is live music! Two talented performers took turns and they were so good.
Is it a fun dinner out if you don’t start out with a cocktail or mocktail? I enjoyed a delicious espresso martini.
Dinner did not disappoint. I had the Seasons Burger with no bun and added bacon and an egg to it. It was cooked perfectly and was so flavorful. They have a great menu. Click HERE to take a peek.
Good morning!
After a wonderful night’s sleep, I decided to start my day with coffee in bed…the perks of having a coffee maker in your room. With two energetic golden retrievers at home, it was so nice to be able to lounge around for a bit in my pj’s before starting my day.
Fitness Center
My first stop of the day was the fitness room. Their fitness center is open 24 hours and although it is small, it is equipped with a treadmill, elliptical trainer, bike, weight machine, and a set of free weights. It was a great room for a workout.
The best part…the sauna!
What an amazing treat after a workout!
Time for Breakfast!
Monday through Sunday there’s a hot breakfast buffet served in Seasons restaurant. The hot breakfast had eggs, they were scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, home fries, there was cereal, pastries, bread, products, different fruit juices. The dining room gives a lovely view of the lovely creeks in the backyard.
Don’t feel like a sit-down breakfast? No worry.
They also offer a continental style grab and go coffee bar that’s available for guest seven days a week and it’s in the front desk lobby. The continental breakfast had bagels, pastries, fruit, cups, yogurt, cereal, coffee, and tea
