OVERVIEW

Since the weather was over 90 degrees in Portugal the July we were in Portugal, we did several day trip from Obidos.  We would choose one activity to do in the town and spend half the day there and the other half we would spend the other half at the nearest beach.  Batalha is most known for its impressive monastery.

 

MOSTEIRO DA BATALHA

This gorgeous building features a gothic style of architecture that will make your jaw drop.  There are three sections: the cathedral, the cloisters, and the unfinished chapels.  Several of Portugal’s kings and queens are buried there, as well as Henry the Navigator.  The cathedral also has the most impressive stained-glass windows.  They are truly a work of art.

Open: From October- March 9:00-6:00, From April- September 9:00-6:30.

Tickets are 6 €, Seniors 3 €

There are many shops and restaurants around town.
