Kennebunkport, Maine: Day #3
Day 3 of exploring Kennebunkport, Maine gets you out on the water, lobster rolls, and some fun on Ocean Avenue. Take a peek at your Kennebunkport, Maine itinerary for day 3 Enjoy!
Grab a quick breakfast at the resort before heading out for the morning.
Ocean Walk
There is no better way to see the beauty of this part of the coast than a walk on Ocean Avenue. Walking this route allows you to enjoy the dramatic views. The mansions will give you a peek at how the other-half lives and you can pick out which one you’d buy if you had a few extra million dollars lying around.
First stop is St. Ann’s Church. This beautiful church was built in 1887, and has been in continuous use as a summer chapel since that date. It is one of the most charming churches I’ve been to in the United States. It is located right on the coast and the views are breathtaking. The architecture of the church matches the beauty of its surroundings. It looks as rugged as the coastline with its stone walls.
The outdoor chapel is a wonderful place to sit and appreciate nature or say a quick prayer. The view will leave you speechless. It is also a wonderful place to meditate.

Finally, your last stop of the morning is The Beach and a walk out onto the jetty. Smell that salty air and enjoy the rugged coastline.
Time for Lunch!

Get on the Water
Head down to the docks towards the amazing 1976 Pineapple Ketch sailboat for your 2-hour sail. The captain and crew are all locals and will welcome you with big smiles as you settle in. They are full of information about the boat and the town, and immediately make everyone comfortable. When the wind is blasting, you’ll get an exciting ride with big waves and water splashing up at you.
After your time at sea, you’ll enjoy a slow-paced ride down the Kennebunk River. You’ll see lots of lobster boats and enjoy the peace of river.
If you do this ride in autumn there will be bursts of color all around you. Keep your eyes peeled for seals!
Something Sweet
Take a walk down to Satellite Doughnuts and pick up a variety of tasty sweets!

Catch a Flight
No…not that kind of flight…I’m talking about a delicious flight of mead. Head to Maine Mead Works to do an educational tasting tour. After you’ve decided which you like best, have a seat outside and enjoy a glass.

What’s for Dinner?
Head back to the Nonantum Hotel to dine at 95 Ocean. Last summer the resort got really creative with their dining experiences. They set up private cabanas on the river where you can enjoy a fabulous meal while enjoying the view. This was so romantic and I’ve even booked a cabana for our 20th anniversary dinner.
S’mores for Dessert!
Another creative thing the resort is did last year was allow families to book a private fire pit. The resort provides a s’mores kit for you to create some memories together. ($50 per fire pit and need to be reserved by noon). Grab a drink from the bar and make some gooey s’mores for dessert.
