GullWing Beach Resort is a stunning 66-suite suite resort directly on the Gulf Coast on Fort Myers Beach, Florida. The suites range from 1, 2, and 3-bedroom and they have several views including the Beachfront, Island View, and Bay View. The hotel is situated on powder white sand and a great location near restaurants and shops.
When staying at a hotel, I don’t often know much about the accommodations I will be given, so I usually prepare for the worst but keep fingers crossed for a room that has some space for my family to spread out. I had no idea what to expect and I can honestly say I was absolutely shocked when we walked into the suite. It was breathtaking and I couldn’t believe we were lucky enough to be spending the entire week here! The most nerve-wracking moment is when you place your key in the door and give it a turn. You never know what to expect. Well…this is what welcomed us as we walked in. The foyer was huge!
To our left were two of the three bedrooms…three bedrooms!! One room had two twin beds and was so spacious that my girls decided to sleep together in that room. The beds were comfortable and there were extra blankets and pillows. Their room had a side view of the water and a large closet.
The other bedroom had a double bed, lots of dresser space, and again, a large closet. The room had a lovely view of the bay and lots of natural light. My girls used this room as their walk-in-closet and for “me time” when they started to get irritated with each other. It was so amazing that each of us had our own space where we could go when we needed time alone. The layout of the suite allowed for privacy for everyone.
The girls had their own bathroom. It had beautiful granite details and a modern sink. It had a lovely rain shower that had strong water pressure.
I couldn’t think of a better place to call home.
The master bedroom was a dream come true. There was a king size bed, television, and dresser. One entire wall was made of floor-to-ceiling glass, as well as a glass side door that led out to the screened-in porch.
However, the best thing about this room was the view. No matter what time of day, the view was always gorgeous. Just look at how breathtaking it was:
Our room even had a walk-in closet!
The master bathroom was huge and had a large Jacuzzi tub. The suite provided a hair dryer, iron, ironing board, and a safe. They offered an assortment of toiletries as well as comfortable robes. The glass shower had three powerful showerheads were a treat after a day of playing in sand and salt water.
Having a kitchen while on a vacation is such a plus since it allows you the comforts of home without having to eat out three times a day. I personally love to eat breakfast while I’m still in my PJ’s and then come inside for a quick salad before heading back to the beach. The kitchen was fully equipped with a full-sized refrigerator and range, dishes, cups, mugs, pots and pans, and utensils. It had a coffeemaker, blender, toaster, microwave, and dishwasher. Really, what else could you need?
The dining area was a nice place for our family to sit down together and have meals on windy days. There was a table and chairs surrounded on three side with ceiling-to-floor windows. The light would shine in while we ate breakfast, making us anticipate another fun day in Florida.
There was even a wet bar with seating.
The living room featured a large sectional that wrapped around the room. It was huge and a perfect place for the whole family to stretch out at the end of the day. The room had a large TV and there was even a DVD player. The reception desk offers movies you can rent for (look into the cost of the movies.) Again, the room was light and airy because once again, there was a wall made entirely of glass. With all the glass, I was surprised how quiet the suite was.
The balcony was our favorite spot of the whole suite. We would come out here for coffee in the morning and wine in the evening.
The patio is in the perfect location to see a stunning Fort Myers Beach sunset each night.
We spent most of our time by the beachside heated pool this week swimming and playing in the water. When we were tired out we would sit on the comfy chaise listening to the sound of the waves crashing while reading a book. Although we love the beach, it is nice to have a pool where you’re staying since my girls love to jump in and swim around without wondering if fish are going to touch them.
The pool had ample seating, including areas with umbrellas for when you need shade. I love that the resort offers pool towels, since that’s one less thing to have to pack.
The pool area also has a soothing whirlpool spa. The water was so warm and was a perfect place to relax at the end of the day.
As you walk down the wooden path, you’ll see that the beach is steps from the resort and it’s powder white sand will make you feel like you are in the Caribbean.
You can spend hours on the beach making sand castles, hunting for shells, dodging the waves, and swimming in the salty water. It is paradise! I was shocked at how quiet the beach was each day. There are beach chairs and umbrellas to rent to make your beach time more comfortable. There was also a beach volleyball court.
Tennis Court
The tennis court is a nice treat and the resort offers tennis rackets and balls available at the reception desk.
Squawk’s Snack Bar
If you are looking for a nice place to have a quick snack, there no need to look farther than poolside. Squawk’s serves hot dogs, ice cream, smoothies, cold drinks, candy, popcorn, and slushies for a quick, convenient snack. It is open daily from 11am-5pm.
The resort offers several grills located poolside. One night we bought some hamburgers and grilled them outside. My husband was so impressed with how clean the grills all were. Each suite offers grilling utensils.

Charley’s Boat House Had the most amazing salad bar.
Truly Scrumptious Had the best ice cream sundaes.
Matanzas on the Bay This restaurant is five miles from the resort but you can easily take the trolley there. It was my favorite meal all week.
