Hyatt Centric Key West Resort & Spa
One of my favorite qualities about my husband is how spontaneous he is. When he asked me if I wanted to go to Key West with him in five days, I immediately started packing my bags. When it came to choosing a hotel, I had three criteria: location, a pool, and a view of the Gulf. The Hyatt Centric Key West Resort & Spa more than acceded our expectations and we couldn’t think of a better place to stay while in Key West. Let me tell you all about our romantic getaway.
Let me show you around our room.
We stayed in room #3113 a
King Deluxe with Ocean View
The first thing you’ll notice when you walk into the room is how large it is. The 500-square-foot room gave us plenty of space to spread out.
Thank you so much for the welcome treat. It was delicious!
The room had plenty of wall to floor windows that gave us stunning views of the Gulf.
Not only did the room have a balcony, it had two! The first had a chaise lounge and table and had a lovely view of the pier.
The second, which we used every day, had two chairs and a table. It overlooked the beach and marina. We loved having our coffee out there every morning.
Our room had a comfortable king bed and the pillows were amazing. There was a 55” flat-screen tv, a Keurig coffeemaker, and an ironing board and iron. The room also had blackout curtains, which was very appreciated in the morning. The Wi-Fi worked really well and we never had any problems with it.
I loved the sitting areas in the room. There was a small couch area and some cute chairs around the room. They were nice places to relax.
The room had a refrigerator so you can store snacks and beverages. We used it to keep our water cold. I love that the resort would give us four waters every day. They came in handy after walking around Key West in August!
Our bathroom was large and had an amazing rainfall shower. It had lots of water pressure, which is rare in rainfall showers. The resort provides comfortable robes and slippers. It also has full size shower amenities of BeeKind toiletries, which I love.
As much as I loved my room, I couldn’t wait to explore the grounds.
Let me show you around the resort.
We decide to walk around the resort and check it out. The resort has two areas with adorable turtles. They were so cute!
We were excited to meet Otis, their gorgeous macaw. Look at how sweet he is!
The resort has jet ski rentals right on the property. When you rent them, it includes a guide that takes you on a tour.
Look at this beautiful fire pit.
Before dinner we went down to the hotel bar, Blue Mojito Bar and Grill, and had some cold mojitos while listening to some live music. There was live music every afternoon while we were there and it was the perfect place to have Happy Hour.
We were so excited to have dinner at Shor, the gorgeous waterfront restaurant at the resort.
Our lovely table on the porch was such a fun place to watch the thunder and lightning storm that happened during our meal.
We started our meal with the GRILLED OCTOPUS (Chinese eggplant, house made tzatziki) and a cosmopolitan.
For my meal, I chose the SEAFOOD COCONUT LIME RISOTTO (Shrimp, crab, scallop, gremolata)
After dinner, we walked to the pier and enjoyed the relaxing views of the resort and the water.
The next day we started our day at Keys Coffee Cafecito, where I had a perfect cappuccino.
When we walked by this part of the resort, we couldn’t resist relaxing in these fabulous hammocks. They are so comfortable and we loved them so much that when we passed the Key West Hammock Company, we went in and bought 2 for our lake house.
I love that the resort has this area where you can leave a book and take a book!
The location of the resort can’t be beat. A 5-minute walk gets you to Duval Street. We did a little shopping and walked down to the Southernmost Point, which is only about a 20-minute walk from the resort.
We decided to check out two bars…
The Bull and Whistle Bar (A great open-air bar)
and Irish Kevin’s (They had great live music!)
Pool Time!
We were so hot and felt like it was time to relax. So, we headed back to the resort and went right to the pool! The pool is on the smaller side compared to other resorts, but it was fine. There were plenty of chaise lounges and they provide towels.
There is also a hot tub.
Before dinner, we headed to Schooner’s Wharf to grab some beers. It’s a fun spot and had live music.
For dinner we went to Alonzo’s Oyster Bar, a 5-minute walk from the resort. It looks out towards the marina and they are known for their raw bar towers. Ours was incredible!
After a wonderful night’s sleep, I decided to do some reading on the beach while my husband made a work call. It was so peaceful.
We couldn’t wait to get some breakfast, so we headed over to Shor for their Crab Cake Benedict. It was so filling!
Our first stop of the day was to Rodriguez Cigar Factory for a tour and the chance to roll our own cigars. It’s a fun tour to do and it is only a 15-minute walk.
We walked around Duval Street following the sound of live music. We checked out Hog’s Breath
and Smokin’ Tuna.
Let’s head to the beach!
Since it was so hot, there was nowhere else we wanted to be than the water. The resort has a sandy area with chaise chairs and next to it has stairs that lead into the Gulf. It’s pretty rocky at the entrance of the water, so you may want to bring water shoes.
It was so refreshing being in the cool, salty water. You feel like you are somewhere in the Caribbean! One morning when we were having coffee on our deck, we watched a manatee swimming right in that area. It was a highlight of the trip!
Before dinner, we stopped at Willie T’s for more live music and cold beers.
For dinner, we ate at Viva Argentinian Steakhouse (They have a delicious Lemongrass Mojito.)
The next morning we ate breakfast at Shor again and this time I did the classic Eggs Benedict.
We walked around the resort one last time admiring how beautiful everything is!
Let me show you some more of my favorite spots…
This is my favorite place to sit because you have an incredible view!
This spot is a great place to soak up the sun.
The local beach next door is where lots of people hang out, jump off the pier, and swim.
You can rent a jet ski for the day and they take you on a tour.
There’s also a small fitness room.
If you feel like some pampering, there is a relaxing spa.
Where do you fly in to?
EYW — Key West International Airport
Who would I recommend it to?
It was such a romantic place for a couple’s getaway. However, there were many times we said, “The kids would love this.” In fact, we’ve already planned on coming back with them.
Any more lunch recommendations?
We had a great lunch at Caroline’s Café (It’s right on Duval Street and has outdoor seating.)
We also had delicious garlic parmesan wings at Irish Kevin’s.

Room choice? I would definitely get a room with a water view. I would also recommend a room on one of the lower floors because views from the higher ones may be blocked from the palm trees.
They are currently offering house cleaning services.
There is a 24-hour front desk.
