outside view of DoubleTree by Hilton Orlando at SeaWorld

DoubleTree by Hilton Orlando at SeaWorld

Ironically, my family often runs around so much during vacation that it doesn’t always feel as relaxing as a vacation should be.  By the time we got to the DoubleTree by Hilton Orlando at SeaWorld we were already exhausted.  That all changed as soon as we walked into the hotel lobby.  We were suddenly transported from the commotion of the outside world into a tranquil place where the world suddenly slows down. The DoubleTree is nestled in 28 acres of gorgeous flower gardens, fountains, and tropical palm trees. Even though you are in the middle of all the action of Orlando, you will feel like you are tucked into your own private oasis.

Take a peek at our room

Our room was a Balinese-inspired double queen premium room.  Since it was located on the first floor, it was easy for us to bring all our luggage and the extra bags we accumulated during our trip.  First impression was that it was impeccably clean, which is a must for me.

When we first walked in, I thought the room was a nice size.

As we took a closer look we wondered what was behind the screen.  Even more space and amenities!  I love this idea!

The beds were comfortable and they offered four pillows for each bed, which is what we sleep with at home.

The room came with a refrigerator, microwave, and coffee maker.  They also provided a room safe, which I was so grateful for since we spent the day at Discovery Cove and they do not allow jewelry if you are swimming with the dolphins.

Another fun feature was the sink located outside of the bathroom.  This was useful for one person to get ready while the other was taking a shower.  Three girls getting ready at the same time can get hectic!

No matter what type of room you get, at the end of the day you’ll be able to lounge out in front of your 42’ television while lying down on a cozy bed.  Need Wi-Fi? The resort offers high speed wireless access.  Each room also offers a blow dryer, iron, ironing board, and alarm clock radio with a built-in charger.  What else could you need in a room?

Barefoot Bar

After check-in, we headed over to the Barefoot Bar, located in the main pool area. They offer appetizers, salads, sandwiches, and burgers.  They also had some delicious looking frozen cocktails.  It has a nice kid menu and a fun selection of mocktails.  I would recommend what I had for lunch: steak burger sliders with peppers, caramelized onions, truffle, arugula and cheese on a brioche slider bun. Oh…and a mojito!

Resort’s Lagoon Pool

The Lagoon Pool is the main pool at the resort.  Colorful flowers, palm trees, and even a waterfall surround you in this tropical oasis.  Feel like having a frozen drink while lounging by the pool?  You can do just that at the Barefoot Bar.  My girls loved relaxing by the pool with a smoothie at the end of each day. This main pool has a fun vibe with great music playing all around you.  It really makes you feel like you are on vacation.  There were plenty of chaise chairs and towels.

Feel like something a bit more private?  Rent a private cabana for the day!

Although the main pool is very welcoming to families, it is often nice to have your own area where kids can splash and play without having to worry about disturbing couples.  The resort created a section of the property where families can play.

Family Fun Pool

This large pool is the perfect place where families can swim and splash around.  It is beautiful, spacious, and so clean!

The resort offers several dining options.

Laguna

Laguna is the hotel’s on-site restaurant.  It offers an all-day menu in a casual atmosphere that welcomes families.  There is both indoor and outdoor seating and we had a lovely dinner on the veranda.  After being at Islands of Adventure all afternoon, it was nice to sit in a relaxing atmosphere, listening to the fountain splashing in the background.  The staff was professional and very welcoming.  I had a wonderful meal: Steak tacos with spicy cilantro sour cream, fontina, pico de gallo, black beans, and cilantro rice.

The Market

Exhausted from a long day of theme parks and don’t feel like going to a restaurant?  Your solution may be to head to The Market, to grab some food to bring back to your room or to eat on the patio.  You can get flatbread pizza, sandwiches, salads, and pastries.  It a wonderful option to have when traveling with young kids.  We had a long drive on our last morning so we bought bagels and coffee to take with us.  It was a very convenient option.

Sonoma Lobby Bar

This beautiful bar, located in the main lobby, offers a large variety of wine as well as beer, and cocktails.  It also offers a tapas menu.
