After attending the Women in Travel Summit, I was lucky enough to be chosen for a trip to the gorgeous coastal town of Rockland, Maine. We were going to explore the town through art galleries, restaurants, and local shops. While I was there, I got to stay in the breathtaking Berry Manor Inn.
Located in a historic residential neighborhood, the inn is within walking distance to restaurants, shops, art galleries, and museums. It is also a quick walk down to the harbor.
The inn has eight rooms, and the carriage house next door has four more. The beauty of this 1899 inn surrounds you as soon as you walk through the front door.
This staircase gives a classic elegance to the inn.
My room looked like it could be the setting of a fairy tale. In fact, when I was Facetiming my daughter, she told me it looked like I was in a doll house. Each of the rooms are uniquely decorated in colors of the Victorian era, and there is so much detail given to every part of your room.
We’ve got to start with the bed…just look at it! There were 400-count sheets, a down comforter, and a large variety of pillows. It was so comfortable!
The room had a lovely sitting area.
As well as a vanity that I used to dream about as a kid.
There was a large work area, but I was having way too much fun to use it.
The fireplace made the room so cozy and welcoming.
I love that there was so much history in the room. This cubby has artifacts from the room including wallpaper from 1899!
My bathroom was charming and had a tub/shower. They also provide soft robes and luxurious plush towels.
The inn has a lovely sitting room that has couches, cozy chairs, and a computer/printer that guests can use.
There is also a game room where guests can relax after a long day exploring Rockland.
It’s the perfect place to sit down and get lost in a puzzle.
There is a dining area with individual tables to enjoy breakfast.
Here is my favorite room of the inn…lol! The guest pantry allows for 24-hours of coffee, tea, sodas, ice, etc.
But the best part are THE PIES! These famous pies were originally made by Mike’s mom, Janet, and Cheryl’s mom, Ally, and their “spare mom” who is Ally’s best friend, Anne. They would bake these pies daily until 1999, when they retired. Luckily, they passed their rolling pin and their family recipes to Cheryl, who continues the tradition. I passed on dessert at dinner to save room for a big slice when I got back to the inn that night. They also provide Gilford vanilla ice cream, but I was all about the pie!
Each morning, at 7:00, the inn puts out coffee, tea, and juice for early risers.
It was lovely to be able to walk across the hall, get some coffee, and bring it back to my room to enjoy it in bed with the fireplace going.
I usually skip breakfast, but after looking at the menu they posted the night before, I couldn’t resist. Breakfast was served at the Rockland Talbot House, which is located next door, and is also owned by the inn.
Breakfast started with coffee, a fruit medley, and strawberry swirl coffeecake.
And for the main course was a delectable apple brown sugar stuffed French toast.
