The Westin Portland Harborview
Portland, Maine
Portland is one of my favorite New England cities. With its location right on the water, amazing restaurants, adorable boutiques, cobblestone streets, and quaint views everywhere, it makes a great travel destination. My daughters and I were going to a concert at the State Theater and the Westin Portland Harborview was the perfect location for our stay.
As soon as you enter the hotel your eyes are drawn up to the stunning lighting display on the ceiling. I mean…WOW…what a first impression!
The hotel has quaint historic charm. Originally opened in 1927 as the Eastland Park Hotel, it has been renovated to a modern hotel.
Let me show you around my room.
We stayed in room 1203, a
Superior Suite, 1 Bedroom, Non-Smoking, City View
Don’t you just love walking into your room and being in awe of how large it is? I was so happy to see that the suite had a separate bedroom so we would have our own space.
The suite is decorated in simple décor and it was clean and comfortable. We did notice that there were two bags of trash left under the sink, but that was a quick fix and the rest of the suite looked spotless.
Take a peek at the bedroom
The bedroom had a very comfortable king bed with soft linens and four comfortable pillows. I loved that there was a television in the bedroom so we could watch our own shows before going to bed.
The room had lots of natural light and I love that the windows actually opened.
The room had a lovely sitting area with cozy chairs and a side table. The closets were large and had two comfortable robes and slippers. There was a safe as well as an ironing board and iron.
The hotel provided a lavender linen spray to help you relax as you fell asleep. It is these meaningful little touches that make you remember a hotel.
Living Room
The living room had a sofa bed. We called down for linens and pillows and they brought them right up. It was a pull-out couch and it was really clean and comfortable.
The room had a desk with an ergonomic chair.
Thank you so much for the lovely welcome gift from hotel. It was filled with delicious Maine goodies like whoopie pie, local coconut chocolates, maple syrup, and more. We couldn’t resist and munched on them before our show.
Love this dry bar
The dry bar had a microwave, coffee maker, sink, and refrigerator. What else could you need? It also had everything you would need for some cocktails, including an ice bucket, glass cups, and a cork screw. It saved the day by having a bottle opener, which was great because I didn’t bring one and I had some Maine ciders that would have gone to waste.
Our bathroom
The bathroom was so large and had a walk-in shower. There was plenty of space on the vanity, which was wonderful because we were all getting ready at the same time. They had so many bath products including mouthwash, a sewing kit, emery board, shower caps, sanitizing wipes, and White Tea Bath & Body shower products.
The room had a city view of Portland.
It was foggy when we got there so waking up and seeing the bay was such a treat.
Around the Hotel
There are several sitting areas in the lobby.
As well as a business center.
Artné Spa
Looking for some pampering while you’re there? Head to the Artné Spa, right in the hotel. They say it is where you’ll experience the art of beauty and the beauty of art. They have services such as mani/pedis, massage, facials, and really unique body treatments. Check out their spa menu HERE.
Location
We were in Portland to see a concert at the State Theater and I love that the hotel is less than a five-minute walk. My daughters and I felt completely safe walking back to the hotel after the concert. It is surrounded by many restaurants and shops. Although it is not directly on the water, it is a short walk. The Portland Museum of Fine Arts is right around the corner.
Restaurants
Our plan was to have dinner right at the hotel at the Congress Squared Restaurant, but since we had early entry at the theatre we ran out of time. Luckily, the hotel offers room service until 11:00 and you can order off the dinner menu. We all had incredible burgers… PINELAND FARMS BEEF BURGER: bacon jam, Cabot cheddar, fried pickled onion, arugula, toasted brioche, house-cut fries.
Top of the East – Rooftop Bar & Lounge
The hotel has an amazing feature…the Top of the East – Rooftop Bar & Lounge. Unfortunately, it is closed for renovations at the moment.
There is also a fitness center that has:
Cardiovascular Equipment
Elliptical Machine
Exercise Bike
Free Weights
Peloton bikes
Strength Equipment
Treadmill
Special Events
The hotel would be a gorgeous place to host a special event!

Restaurants in the area that I love:
Eventide: It’s a great place to watch them shuck oysters. Their lobster roll is a must.
Fore Street: Locally sourced and hand-crafted food. Their menu changes daily.
Street & Company: A Mediterranean, bistro style, all-seafood restaurant.
Highroller Lobster Co: If you are avoiding carbs, they have a lobster cheese crisp taco.
Otto: This pizza place has some unique kinds like mashed potato, bacon, and scallion.
Duckfat: Try the fries.
Who would I recommend it to?
The hotel is casual and welcoming and is the perfect place to stay with families. Since there are many romantic things to do in the area, it would be a lovely place to stay for a couple’s getaway. The number of spas, restaurants, and bars would make it a fun place to spend a girls’ weekend.
Tips for Planning your Stay
Parking: There is also off-site parking right across the street. Check in to the hotel before you park because you get a discount ($30 instead of $40). They no longer have valet parking.
Check-in: 4:00 Check-out: 11:00
Room choice? I would definitely get a room with a water view. I would also recommend a room on one of the higher floors for an even better view. If possible, get a suite.

There is a 24-hour front desk.
