What an amazing location for of beautiful hotel!  Located in Cambridge, MA, on the banks of the Charles, the Royal Sonesta is very close to Fenway Park and Harvard Square.  It is also conveniently located just around the corner from the Museum of Science.  This family-friendly hotel lets you explore Boston and then come back to a place where you’ll feel like you’re home.

OUR ROOM

The Royal Sonesta offers 400 rooms and suites, many which offer breathtaking views of the Boston skyline.  Our room had two queen size beds with the most luxurious bedding and pillows, giving us a peaceful night sleep.

All rooms offer flat-screen tv’s, high-speed internet, a refrigerator, and an electric safe.  We had a large desk that offered plenty of workspace.

A cool feature of the room is the motion sensor located under the nightstand, that turns on when you walk by.  This was perfect for when my girls needed to get up in the middle of the night.

  Look at our amazing view!

It was just as amazing at night.

Our bathroom was large and had a great glass shower.  Cozy towels, bathrobes, and slippers were perfect to snuggle up with after your shower.

You know I love good bath amenities, and the Royal Sonesta goes above and beyond by providing a toothbrush, toothpaste, razor, shaving cream, shoe polisher, etc.

POOL

The Sonesta offers a stunning atrium-style lap pool with sliding glass doors that open up to beautiful Cambridg.  Because it is chlorine-free and uses salt, it eliminates the chlorine smell you have on your skin after swimming. I decided not to go swimming, but it was so pleasant to sit in the pool area watching the girls swim.  I hate when hotels keep the pool area as warm as a rain forest.  The amount of sunlight that comes through all the glass makes the pool so unique.  In the summer, they open the glass roof and show family movies in the pool area so kids can watch a movie as they swim!

RESTAURANTS

Dante Bar & Patio

This elegant restaurant serves amazing Italian food and is the perfect place for dinner.  You can enjoy view of the Charles River and the Boston skyline as you dine on plates such as grilled octopus, farro paella, and lobster carbonara.  They have an extensive wine list and some delicious cocktails.  I loved the sangria!

Although the restaurant is elegant, they were very accommodating to families and did a wonderful job making my girls feel welcome.  The restaurant offers a kid’s menu and there is such variety you’ll be sure to find something for the entire family. We had the pleasure of tasting three appetizers: fried calamari, bruschetta, and arancini.  The arancini were to die for and I would definitely recommend them.  The attentiveness of the staff made our meal one of the best we’ve had in Boston.

ArtBar

We had the best brunch experience at the ArtBar.  We were given the pleasure of tasting some warm pastries and an impressive fruit platter.  My youngest daughter couldn’t get enough of the yogurt that came with the fruit.  It was drizzled in honey and she loved dipping the fruit into it.

I had an amazing lobster eggs Benedict with huge pieces of lobster atop perfectly poached eggs. My older daughter had a delicious omelet and my younger daughter had smoked salmon on a bagel with all the toppings.  I cannot say enough nice things about our waitress.  She was so engaging with the girls, addressing them by name throughout our meal.  She made our experience very memorable, going so far as to giving them some snacks to bring back to their room.

Both in the restaurant, as well as in the lobby, the ArtBar features its world-class art collection.  We spent some time looking at the pieces after brunch.

Studio

If you’re looking for a quick, convenient, place to get breakfast, Studio is a great place to stop for some coffee and a pastry. We started our morning off with pastries, coffee, juice, and muffins we brought back to our room. It is also a great place to buy sandwiches, salads, and soup you can bring back to your room.  It was a pleasure to have something so convenient right in the hotel.

A warm thank you to the Royal Sonesta Boston for having my family as guests of your hotel.  The kindness and attentiveness of the staff at both the restaurants as well as the hotel make us anxious to return.  As always, all experiences and opinions are 100% my own.
