Location
The location can’t be beat as it is close to Boston Commons, the beautiful Public Garden and is steps from classy shopping on Newbury Street. The hotel is within walking distance of Fenway Park and art museums, as well as lots of historic sights. I was thrilled to visit and since my husband and I still hadn’t celebrated our anniversary, I decided this would be the perfect time for a couple’s getaway. Sorry kiddos!
Hospitality
The hospitality started before we had even left the house when we got an email giving directions to the hotel, the weather forecast, and check-in time. On our drive there we got another email saying that the bar at Uni was opening in an hour and it is the perfect place to get a cocktail. We knew we were going to love this hotel and couldn’t wait to get there!
Our First Impression
We immediately felt The Eliot Hotel’s welcoming charm when we walked into the hotel and the staff was so kind, helpful, and professional throughout check-in. The historic hotel has only nine floors, so it fits in well with the neighborhood. We were excited to take the elevator up to our room on the eighth floor.
The Interior
The interior of the hotel is breathtaking and gives off an elegant, yet casual old-world vibe. I would feel completely comfortable bringing my kids here. Look at how amazing the lobby is!
The reception desk made me feel like I was in a small hotel in Europe. It is no surprise that The Eliot Hotel is consistently being recognized as a top hotel by Condé Nast and Travel + Leisure.
Our Suite
The Eliot Hotel has 95 tastefully decorated guestrooms and suites. We had the pleasure of staying in a king one-bedroom suite. (Room 808) It had such a lovely décor, was impeccably clean, and extremely spacious, especially for a hotel in the city. We had a lovely treat waiting for us!
The living room was huge and had tones of grey and taupe. There was a sleeper sofa in the living room, which would be ideal for families since it would allow everyone their own space. It also had double French doors that separated it from the bedroom, allowing privacy. Since it was a corner suite, it had windows on two walls so lots of light came through.
There was a large desk, with a comfortable chair that was great to get a little work done the next morning.
The bedroom had a comfortable king size bed with a plush mattress, premium linens and down pillows. I did not want to get out of bed the next morning, especially for the fact that no kids were calling my name! I loved that there was a flat-screened tv in both rooms.
Our Bathroom
Our bathroom had beautiful Italian marble tile and a shower with great water pressure. The water heats up within seconds and was so hot. The plush bathrobes would be comfortable to lounge around in after your shower.
This View!!
The hotel is located on the corner of Commonwealth and Massachusetts Ave and had an amazing view of the Prudential Building. It looked so pretty lit up at night!
There was a huge walk-in closet with lots of shelves as well as places to hang your clothes. It also had an ironing board, iron, extra bedding, and a safe.
In the hallway, there was a wet bar with a sink, Keurig, and all the fixings for New England coffee and tea. I loved having a cup of coffee in bed the next morning. There was a fully stocked mini bar for late night cravings. There were even chargers and luggage tags that you could purchase, which is great since I frequently forget my charger.
Dinner at Uni
I was so excited to dine at Uni and it did not disappoint! It is run by Chef-Partners Ken Oringer and Tony Messina, 2018 James Beard Award nominated Outstanding Restauranteur and Best Chef: Northeast, respectively. Together they have helped Uni win many awards such as ‘#1 Restaurant in Boston’ by Boston Magazine.
We couldn’t wait to experience the restaurant’s inventive Japanese cuisine.
Sushi was all I could think about all day! We requested a table, but you can also sit at the sushi bar to watch them create their masterpieces. That’s always a fun time.
We started our meal with a cocktail at the bar. There was a large selection of signature cocktails, wine, and sake.
There were so many delicious options on the menu that we decided to do the Omakase, a 16-course tasting of the chef’s choice. It was honestly one of the most amazing meals I have ever had. Each course consisted of small bites of perfection and we were so full at the end. It was quite pricey but worth every penny. Look at how unbelievable everything was! It was an exceptional culinary experience. Here is a sample of our meal.
