Pleasant Bay Village Resort
After a long school year full of homework, studying for tests, and early mornings, my girls deserved some fun in the sun. So where did we escape to? To the beautiful beaches of Cape Cod of course! Our first stop was to Pleasant Bay Village Resort in the quaint town of Chatham. This family-owned resort is in the perfect central location in the elbow of Cape Cod.
Our first impression of the hotel was how peaceful it is. Although there were several families staying here, the layout of the resort allows everyone to have their own privacy. We couldn’t wait to put down our bags and explore. The staff at the front desk were so helpful and my girls loved how funny they were. They gave us some great suggestions of where to go in town and even took the time to draw their recommendations on a map. I’ll tell you more about our visit into town in a bit.
We stayed in an Extra Deluxe room with two queen beds. The room gave off a calm feeling with its blue walls and original work from local Cape Cod artists.
Our room was located in a quiet, peaceful section of the property and was right around the corner from the pool. Our room was impeccably clean and inviting.
The room was spacious and included comfy beds with upholstered headboards, a flat screen television, free WIFI, a small refrigerator, Keurig coffee maker, desk, and phone.
The room also had a table with two comfortable leather chairs, and fresh flowers. (Where else do you get fresh flowers in your room?)
Behind the glass doors was a sitting room with an open closet to hang your clothes and built-in drawers. It had an iron and ironing board. There was also our bathroom which included Italian marble tile and a bathtub with a shower. It had a lighted magnified mirror, and hairdryer.
When on vacation, my girls have one request… a place to swim! Pleasant Bay Village Resort has a lovely pool, which luckily was heated since it was only about 70 degrees on the day we were there. The pool had plenty of comfortable chaise lounges and chairs, so everyone had space to relax. The pool even had floats and pool toys in it to keep kids entertained.
There is also a lovely hot tub.
As you walk the grounds of Pleasant Bay Village Resort, you will appreciate the many hours that must be spent taking care of the impeccably manicured gardens. The grounds are an oasis with many tranquil spots where you can take in the beauty and relax. It’s an amazing place to recharge. Take a peek.
The gardens have an oriental feel to them and there was a lovely pond with colorful Koi that the girls enjoyed watching.
There were also some fun family activities that kept the girls entertained, like the ping pong table
and shuffle board.
There are also beautiful walking paths.
What makes a resort so memorable are the personal touches like a morning newspaper,
complimentary homemade cookies for an afternoon snack,
and turndown service every night with a tasty Godiva goodnight treat.
We had a great breakfast the next morning and I had the best omelet I’ve had in a long time.
What family-friendly activities are there to do in the area?
Take a day trip to Martha’s Vineyard or Nantucket.
Charter a fishing boat.
Go on a whale watch.
Go to the beach.
Go for a hike at the National Seashore.
Go for a bike ride on the Cape Cod Rail Trail.
Play some tennis.
Go to a baseball game.
