Great Wolf Lodge New England
Fitchburg, MA
Nestled in the quaint town of Fitchburg, Massachusetts, Great Wolf Lodge is the perfect destination for a family-friendly adventure and or some well-needed relaxation. This enchanting resort promises a magical escape from the everyday hustle and bustle. From its fun indoor water park to its charming accommodations and diverse amenities, it is a great place to make some memories. We first visited in 2017, when our daughters were ages 9 & 11. This time my 15-year-old and I were lucky to spend the night as part of a press trip in central Massachusetts. It’s great to see she had just as much fun as a teenager as she did a kid.
Come See Our Room
We stayed in a:
Deluxe Queen Suite
Our spacious room had two queen-size beds and a twin-size sofa sleeper.
The room included a microwave, mini fridge, and coffee maker. The room had a rustic décor with wide wooden headboards and iron pieces of art.
It was fun to find all the hidden details.
The room had a full bath with a large vanity, which is great when you have two people trying to get ready at the same time.
If my kids were younger, I would splurge and get a theme suite which has a cabin inside your room so the kids have their own space.
Thank you so much for the delicious welcome gift.
If you have young kids, the waterpark will be where you spend most of your time. Let me give you a tour of some of their rides. Although we didn’t have time to use the park during this visit, I’ll tell you about all the rides we loved the first time we visited.
Fort Mackanzie
Kids have great imaginations and they will love splashing around this water fort tree house pretending to be world explorers. Kids can activate splash features, squirt unsuspecting people and then race down the body slides. Make sure you listen for the bell; when it rings, the gigantic bucket on top is ready to tip!
Alberta Falls
This fun ride allows you to ride solo or with another person as you rush through swiftly banking turns and steep pitches. The Alberta Falls water slide takes you outside the building and back in again before your final drop into the plunge pool. It was so much fun!
Howlin’ Tornado
A word of warning about this exhilarating ride…it is TERRIFYING!! I had no clue what I was in for. You soar through pitch black tunnels and drop…and I mean DROP into a funnel. Yep…a six-story funnel where you climb walls so steep, I was sure we would flip over! Scary…but that’s what makes it so fun!
North Hot Springs
As soon as you step into the warm North Hot Spring your muscles immediately relax. But the best part is the hot tub leads you to an outdoor section where the cold air shocks you as you step out. It is especially fun when it’s snowing.
Crooked Creek
Feel like vegging out? Then go no further than this lazy river. The river was much shallower than some we’ve been on, which is great for young kids.
There are so many free activities to do around the hotel such as:
Yoga Tails: Enjoy a fun yoga class that is designed to stimulate energy, imagination, and self-expression.
Make Something New: Kids can discover their inner artist with arts & crafts projects that allow their creativity to shine and provide a unique souvenir for their visit to Great Wolf Lodge.
Balloon characters: Yes…even teenagers love this. My daughter got a sword…lol.
Free Wolf Ears: Head over to Buckhorn Exchange and ask them for a free pair of wolf ears. You’ll see tons of people wearing them around the hotel.
Hustle & Howl Dance Party: Play games, let loose at a dance party and listen to a bedtime story.
Story Time
Watch the Forest Friends Show and then listen to a bedtime story. I walked by this event and the kids looked like they were having so much fun.
What I loved most about Great Wolf Lodge over other indoor water parks was the variety of activities available when you are tired of playing in water. These activities all have an additional cost so plan ahead before you go.
Rustic Ridge Climbing Wall
Great Wolf Lodge has several climbing walls in their Rustic Ridge Climbing Adventure. Your competitive kids will especially like the one that times you. When you get to the top you press a button that stops the clock. Staff makes kids feel safe by assuring them they will be caught by the harness if they fall.
MagiQuest
The experience allows you to immerse yourself in Vellara, a realm of enchantment, as you befriend the Treetop Pixies, battle Charlock, the evil dragon and fight to defeat the Goblin King. Lots of kids seemed to be having fun with it. Master Magi Ceremony: Once you have completed every quest and saved the Land of Velara, you become a Master Magi to be knighted and inducted into the Order of the Magi. Ceremonies are held daily.
Howlers Peak Ropes Course
If you like ropes courses, you’ll love balancing on ropes, crossing bridges and climbing through obstacles: all from the safety of a climbing harness! After a brief safety instruction, you are on your way up. Unlike some courses where you need to unhook at each platform, on this course you stay connected the entire time so kids can complete the course unassisted.
As if that’s not enough there is also:
Northern Lights Arcade: Lights, action, and energy fill the arcade with excitement. Have fun playing against each other or going solo. Make sure you turn in your points at the end for some fun prizes.
Howl at the Moon Mini Golf: 9 holes of interactive play with plenty of sand traps and tricky shots. We had so much fun playing…even though I lost.
Oliver’s Mining Co: Feel the rush as you pan and sift your way to finding beautiful gemstones waiting to be discovered — what’s hiding in your pay dirt? Take your collection home in a keepsake gem bag, complete with gemstone identification card and personalized labels.
Build-A-Bear Workshop: Choose a friend for life, and take your pick of outfits, colorful costumes, and accessories, then watch in awe as your plush toy gets filled. Your child can pick up clothing to match!
