Entrance of Common Man Inn in and Spa Plymouth

Common Man Inn and Spa, Plymouth

Looking for a cozy New England getaway? The Common Man Inn and Spa in Plymouth, NH, blends rustic charm with modern amenities, making it a perfect retreat for nature lovers and relaxation seekers alike. Nestled in the White Mountains, this beautifully restored wood mill offers warm hospitality, comfortable accommodations, and proximity to popular attractions like Loon Mountain and Squam Lake. Whether you’re here for a weekend escape or an extended stay in New Hampshire’s Lakes Region, you’ll feel right at home.

First Impression

Upon arriving, we noticed snowmobile parking, which immediately won us over! The inn’s transformation from a 60,000-square-foot wood mill in 2001 preserved its history while adding modern comforts. The architecture remains unique and inviting.

Check-In Experience

The staff made us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. We were provided with a map highlighting all the key spots, including the restaurant, spa, and pool, and set off to explore the inn’s cozy lobby and hallways, filled with rustic details.

We also took a detour to the Common Man Shop, which sells products like snacks, clothing, gifts, and more. It’s the perfect place to grab a little souvenir or snack for your room.

Our Suite: The Lodge

Our suite, aptly named “The Lodge,” felt like stepping into a private cabin. This signature suite wowed us with its four-poster log bed, a cozy fireplace, and woodsy décor. It is one of three signature suites at the inn.   Let me show you around.  After coming through the hallway door, the first thing you encounter is another entrance! How fun is this?

As you go through the screen door, this is the first view of your room.  It’s like walking through a portal in to a cabin in the woods.

A warm fire greeted us.

The room featured a four-poster log king size bed with comfortable sheets and down comforters.  It also offered a variety of pillows so I could choose which size felt right for me.

The sitting room offered extra space, including a day bed with a trundle, ideal for families.

My daughter loved the quirky window between the rooms, which added a fun, homey touch.

The bathroom had a large Jacuzzi tub with jets.  It also had New Hampshire-made goat soap and lotion that you could buy in the store downstairs.  I loved the local New England touch it added.

And these robes…honestly, I could have stayed in these for the rest of our stay.   Really…I wish I could have worn them to dinner!

Throughout our stay, my daughter and I kept pointing out details in the room because there was so much to look at! They did an amazing job allowing you to feel just like you were in a cabin.  We pretended the bathroom was the outhouse and when we would go through the screen door we would warn each other to watch out for bobcats and bears.  One of my favorite features is the tin roof.  The rugs placed on top of the wood floor gave the room a comfortable feel like home.

Pool Time!

The pool area of the Common Man Inn and Spa is the perfect place to relax and have some fun.  The heated pool is kept at a nice temperature

and the roof is absolutely stunning.

There is plenty of seating in the pool area and there is even a nice corner with couches and a fireplace.

Our favorite spot in the pool area was the hot tub. The strong jets massaged your shoulders and the waterfall would cascade behind you as you slip away into relaxation.

Spa Time!

I can honestly say I had the most amazing massage at the Common Man Inn and Spa.  Cheryl was magical in making the stress melt right away.  I had planned on my family waiting in our room during my massage but my older daughter sprained her foot at a dance the night before so it was just my 8-year-old and myself on this trip.  Cheryl invited her into the room and said she didn’t mind at all if she sat and quietly played her electronics.  I loved that because it let me truly relax knowing she was fine.  She was as quiet as a mouse and I kept forgetting she was there.

For my spa treatment, I had a Common Man Classic, which is a Swedish style massage that is said to increase circulation, relieve tension, and promote relaxation.  Everything about the massage was perfect…from the pressure to the lighting, to the music.  I am pretty picky when it comes to spa treatments and I truly recommend this spa!

Foster’s Boiler Room

We had an incredible dinner at Foster’s Boiler Room. The industrial-rustic vibe of exposed beams and pipes paired with great service made it a memorable dining experience. My daughter loved watching the basketball game on the big screen while enjoying her burger, and I couldn’t get enough of the Foster’s Duck Melt—pulled confit, bacon jam, crispy onions, and cheddar on sourdough. For dessert, the Peanut Butter Cup and Snowballs (ice cream rolled in coconut and walnuts) were the perfect sweet ending.

A very warm thank you to the Common Man Inn and Spa for having my daughter and myself as guests of your inn. Every person we met at the inn was so inviting and helpful.  They truly want their guests to feel like they are home and they will go above and beyond to make sure everyone feels welcome. As always, all experiences and opinions are 100% my own.
