Hanover Inn overlooks the picturesque Dartmouth College Green in Hanover, New Hampshire. The inn is filled with New England charm and as soon as you walk in your stress melts away. Although the inn is family friendly, I got to spend a night away alone since my girls were both busy with activities and my amazing husband agreed to be on duty. With the past two weeks filled with sick kids, strep throat, three snow days, and two delayed opening, I was more than open to having some “me time.” I can’t think of a better place for solitude!
The town of Hanover is quaint, with an impressive downtown area filled with boutique stores, pubs, restaurants, and many stores featuring work from local artists. Everything is within walking distance from the inn, making it a perfect location.
The inn has a rich history. The Hanover Inn was once the home of General Ebenezer Brewster, who became Dartmouth College steward in 1769. You can tell the college played a large role throughout the lifetime of the inn. Their strong connection can be seen in the stacks of college newspapers in the lobby and seen in the lovely armoire holding yearbooks from past years.
Throughout the halls, portraits of Dartmouth history line the walls.
There is even a board for alumni to display their name when they’re in town. You can really feel a sense of pride for the school.
First Impression
My first impression of the inn was wonderful because the valet attendants were so welcoming and kind. They immediately made me feel at home and I hadn’t even entered the inn yet! Check-in was smooth and efficient. I was told about the amenities of the inn as well as the location of the fitness center, restaurant, ice machines, and vending machines. I was also given a rundown on the town and where to go for shopping or to view the campus. There were even fresh cookies upon arrival. My girls would have loved that!
Look at this lovely sitting area off the lobby.
Take a peek at my room
This elegant inn has 108 guest rooms, including 14 suites. My room was a Classic King and featured a very comfy king-size bed with high quality bedding and soft pillows. The room had traditional New England ambiance and was warm and inviting with its dark hues and classic plaid fabric.
The room contained an iron, ironing board, and safe. Did you forget something? If so, the inn offers adaptors, night lights, dental kits, sewing kits, and shave kits. For families, DVD players are available as well as movies and board games. The inn also has baby cribs and pack n’ plays you can borrow.
The inn goes the distance with little touches such as including a large variety of coffee, tea, hot chocolate, and apple cider. They also provide travel mugs so you can take your beverage to go.
I was grateful for their warm welcome!
Look at this amazing view!
My room was on the 5th floor and had the most amazing view of the Dartmouth green! Just look at how beautiful it was.
The bathroom was large,
With a huge glass shower.
And quality shower products.
Wish I had time to dine at Pine
Pine, the restaurant located at the inn, looked amazing and I will definitely return just to dine here. The walls are lined with beautiful wood and the menu looked so appetizing. Click HERE for a peek at the menu. The restaurant has a farm-to-table concept and serves American flavors inspired by New England’s rich heritage and tradition. Their meals focus on local and sustainable cuisine.
I had such a long day, so I decided to stay in and order room service and I’m thrilled that I did. My meal was delicious and the service was convenient and prompt. It was great to enjoy a meal and wine while sitting in a fluffy robe and slippers in the comfort of my room.
Spa Time!
A block from the inn is the pampering European Face and Body Studio.
I started my day away by having an Ultimate Relaxation Massage. It allowed me to relax and begin to unwind from my drive. The spa offers many treatment options. Click HERE for a look at their spa services.
The Hanover Inn is a wonderful place for families, businesses, and romantic getaways. You will be blown away by how elegant, yet welcoming, the inn will make you feel.
