Stunning exterior
The Sunset Hill House has a beautiful exterior.
I was lucky to show up right when the lilacs were starting to bloom. They smelled incredible and added a quintessential New England feel to the inn.
Head inside with me!
Let me show you around my room.
The inn has 28 lovely rooms. I stayed in room 201, a
Standard Sunrise
As soon as you walk into the room you get the feeling you are staying in a friend’s home, rather than a stereotypical hotel room.
The room had two walls of windows that allowed lots of natural light to enter. The white dresser had plenty of drawer space and they had a spacious closet.
The blue focal wall and fireplace area give it a cozy ambiance. The decorations, like the vintage snowshoes, framed pictures of the inn from the past, and dried flower displays give the room a personal touch.
My room had a comfortable king bed and the pillows were amazing. There was a small tv in the room but I was so busy relaxing that I never turned it on. The Wi-Fi worked really well and we never had any problems with it.
I loved the sitting area in the room. The light coming through the windows were nice for reading and the view was beautiful. It was a nice place to relax.
Check out this view!
It was incredible to look out over the White Mountains. There were turkeys roaming the fields and when I opened the windows the soothing sounds of nature seeped in.
Adorable bathroom
My bathroom was small but comfortable. It had good water pressure, and soft towels.
As much as I loved my room, I couldn’t wait to explore the grounds.
Let me show you around the inn.
You may not want to come inside again after seeing this backyard. The views of the mountains looming around you will leave you breathless.
I can’t tell you how quiet and peaceful the surroundings were. You can feel your stress melt away as you walk around the grounds.
The outside of the inn gave off some serious Bridgerton vibes.
The Adirondack chairs were begging for you to sit, relax, and just be in the moment.
There was a wedding arriving the following day and I can imagine this view would make the perfect backdrop for an outdoor New Hampshire wedding.
Let’s check out the common areas inside the inn.
This inn has several common areas where guests can relax or meet up with other guests. I love this cozy room off the main entrance. You feel like you’re in someone’s living room.
The room has historic decorative pieces that set the stage for a unique destination.
I also loved this beautiful room.
There were comfortable areas to sit and read a book, tables to play games, and once again…that VIEW!
There is so much history at the inn. Explore the hallways and find old signs,
Uniforms,
And make sure you find this vintage telephone. Hint…it’s hidden behind a red door…ssshhhh.
Feeling competitive?
How about a game of pool? This gorgeous room has unbelievable views of the mountains. Grab a cocktail and have a seat in one of the leather couches.
Time for dinner!
Boo’s Burger Bar
Boo’s Burger Bar is the perfect place to dine. Their menu is based on Boo’s appreciation that sometimes there is nothing better than something simple done right – and they have the best burgers in the area. They have a nice bar with a great cocktail menu. Click HERE to take a peek.
There are several places you can eat your meal. You can choose to sit outside with a lovely view of the golf course.
This beautiful back dining room has even more seating.
I decided to grab a table by the window so I could enjoy the view. I had one of the best cosmopolitans that I’ve had in a while. It was really strong…exactly how I like them…lol.
With so many delicious burger options on the menu, it was hard making a choice. I opted for The Sunset: Harman’s cheddar, caramelized onions, bacon and a fried egg. Since I decided not to have a bun with my burger, I was pleased to see they added lettuce, onion, and tomatoes. It was so good!
What time is sunset?
If you’re staying at Sunset Hill House, seeing the sunset is a must-do event. Want to know what time the sun sets and rises? The inn will tell you every day.
Sunset time!
I decided to go across the street to the golf course to get the perfect view. Mother Nature did not disappoint. The sky was spectacular!
It was one of the prettiest sunsets I’ve seen in a while. I especially loved seeing the sun go down behind the lilac trees.
Want to play some games?
The Sunset Hill House is designed for the whole family to come out and play. With an array of board games in their main room, there is no better view for family game night or cards with friends. The fun continues with a variety of outdoor favorites including giant connect four, horseshoes, and bocce.
Get outdoors
With over 70 acres to explore, The Sunset Hill House offers its guests the ability to get up close with some of New Hampshire’s prettiest landscapes. Whether it is snow shoeing through birch forests, hiking through wild-flower gardens, or walking a path lined with New England’s one-of-a-kind foliage, it is always a good time to enjoy the outdoors. Borrow one of their vintage cruiser bicycles to explore.
Feel like a game of golf?
Since 1897, golfers and amateurs alike have come to the golf course at The Sunset Hill House to enjoy breathtaking views while playing a round. The 9-hole course features 1,977 yards of golf with a par of 33.
Hit the pool
Their outdoor swimming pool sits perched on top of sunset hill overlooking the White Mountain Range. Whether you want to start your day with a few laps or enjoy a mid-day drink poolside, their pool area has something for everyone.
After an amazing night’s sleep, I was not quite ready to leave this beautiful spot, so I went down and made myself a coffee
and headed outside to enjoy one last walk around the gorgeous grounds.
Goodbye Sunset Hill House! I can’t wait to return with my family one day.

2 must-see spots in Sugar Hill
Make sure you stop over at Harman’s Cheese & Country Store.
You’ll feel like you’ve stepped back in time. They have delicious cheese, maple syrup, NH-made jams, jellies, pickles, relishes, and much more. Sample some delicious cheese before decided which you’d like. I love the way they wrap them in paper.
Also, make a stop at St. Matthew’s Chapel. Although you usually can’t go inside, it is a picturesque church to view from the outside. It has beautiful stained-glass windows and the bright yellow door is so cheerful.
It should be on a postcard! The town has so many adorable spots.
