The Port Inn
An Ascend Hotel Collection Member
A setting sun, large 2nd floor porch and elegant white pillars greeted us with New England charm as we pulled up to the Port Inn, in Portsmouth, NH.
Inside, the lobby reminded me of a hotel you would find in Boston or NYC. The sleek dark furniture and brown walls create a calm ambiance as you check in. Klez made check-in simple and quick with his professional, yet welcoming personality. He was kind enough to offer us a suite so we could have more room to spread out. Each time we passed the front desk he greeted us with a smile and kind words.
Our immaculately clean suite had a large bedroom containing a king size bed. The pillows and comforter were so soft and fluffy they made us want to stay in bed all day. The inn pays attention to details and include modern conveniences like an I-phone charger embedded in the lamps of the bedroom. The room has a sitting area and a full-length mirror.
The fully equipped bathroom was spacious and had plenty of counter space. The shower had powerful water pressure and fluffy towels. It contained a good hair dryer and nice toiletries.
Our suite also had a kitchenette area, which would be wonderful for longer stays. It included a refrigerator, microwave, and sink. It also included dishes, cups, mugs, and eating utensils. The coffee maker, Starbucks coffee, and Tazo tea allows you to enjoy a nice cup of coffee without having to leave your room.
Our suite had a beautiful living room with a desk area, flat screened TV, and a large sofa. The sofa offered a single pull-out bed. It was a nice space to watch television after the kids went to bed.
HOTEL AMENITIES
The inn has a beautiful heated outdoor pool, which made us want to return during the summer.
It also featured:

DOG FRIENDLY
As a dog owner, I appreciate a destination that allows you to bring your four-legged friend. The Port Inn welcomes them for only an additional pet service accommodation of $20/night per pet.
BREAKFAST
You never know what to expect when breakfast is included with your stay, but we were pleasantly surprised with our meal. The Port Inn provides a lovely assortment of bagels, muffins, hard boiled eggs, oatmeal, cereal, and fruit. There is even a make-your-own waffle station. There is a large variety of tea, as well as one of the best coffee makers I’ve ever seen in a hotel. It grinds the beans and allows you to make your own expresso, latte, or cappuccino.
LOCATION
The location of the Port Inn cannot be beat. It is right off Interstate 95, near the Portsmouth traffic circle. The Port Inn is located near fun family attractions such as Odiorne State Park, Strawberry Bank Museum, Water Country Water Park, Prescott Park, and the Seacoast Science Center. There are also several beautiful beaches, bike riding trails, and hiking spots.
We decided to take a cab into town for dinner because we thought it was more convenient than finding parking and it was less than a $10 ride. Portsmouth has over 100 locally owned restaurants, art galleries, shops, and breweries. It is a perfect town to grab a cup of coffee, walk around, and pop into the quaint boutiques that are around every corner
