DoubleTree by Hilton New York Times Square West
If you’re planning a trip to New York City and looking for a hotel that’s comfortable, conveniently located, and packed with great amenities, the DoubleTree by Hilton New York Times Square West might just be the perfect fit. Nestled in the heart of Midtown Manhattan, this hotel offers a blend of modern comfort and easy access to some of the city’s top attractions.
Why NYC?
You all know how much I love the Women in Travel Summit (WITS). This year our host city was none other than the Big Apple. As always, I came in to town a few days early to explore. I chose this hotel because I was seeing a Broadway show and wanted to stay somewhere close to the theater since I would be traveling solo. This hotel ended up being the perfect spot!
Location
One of the biggest perks of staying at DoubleTree Times Square West is its prime location. Situated on 40th Street between 8th and 9th Avenues, this hotel is just a short walk from Times Square, Bryant Park, Broadway theaters, and Hudson Yards. Plus, Penn Station and Port Authority Bus Terminal are close by, making it easy to get around the city.
First impression
The moment you step into the DoubleTree by Hilton, you’re greeted with a warm chocolate chip cookie—Hilton’s signature touch! The lobby is sleek and modern, with friendly staff ready to assist you with check-in. The check-in process was smooth, and they said concierge was happy to provide recommendations for things to do in the area.

Since it was just myself, I stayed in a
Standard Room, 1 King Bed
As soon as I opened the door, I was blown away by the warm welcome from the hotel. They really did a wonderful job of immediately making me feel at home.
New York City hotel rooms are often on the smaller side, but DoubleTree Times Square West does a good job of maximizing space. The rooms are stylishly decorated with neutral tones and floor-to-ceiling windows that offer stunning city views—especially if you book a higher-floor room.
My room included plush bedding, a flat-screen TV, free WiFi, a coffee maker, a mini-fridge, iron, and ironing board, making it a comfortable home base after a day of exploring the city. The room had plenty of wall to floor windows that allowed natural light to flow through.
The room had a work desk and plenty of drawers and closet space to store your clothes.
View
My room had a stunning view of the city and made me so excited about what I’d be exploring later in the day!
My Bathroom
My bathroom was a nice size and had plenty of vanity space for toiletries. It also has full size shower amenities.
Let me show you around the hotel.
The Lobby
Walking into the lobby of The DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel New York Times Square West feels like stepping into a calm pocket of the city’s chaos. It’s modern and polished but not overly flashy—think sleek marble floors, warm lighting, and a cool city vibe.
There’s plenty of comfortable seating, making it a great spot to regroup before heading back out into Midtown. The vibe is laid-back but business-friendly, so whether you’re in town for meetings or musicals, you’ll feel right at home.
Let’s Explore NYC
I easily jumped into an Uber right from the front of the hotel (I know…I know…I didn’t use the subway) and headed uptown to visit the Guggenheim Museum.
Next stop was a lovely walk through Central Park. I saw all of my favorite spots… Belvedere Castle, Shakespeare’s Garden, Bow Bridge, Bethesda Terrace)
Then a quick stop in to Ralph’s Café for a delicious iced chai latte.
I headed back to the hotel and relaxed in my room for a little bit before going out for the night.
High Bar & Lounge
This beautiful spot is perched up on the 36th floor and delivers those classic NYC skyline views—Empire State Building and all—that never get old. The vibe is laid-back but stylish, with cozy seating, string lights, and a cocktail menu that leans into both creative twists and timeless favorites.
Whether you’re sipping a Manhattan under the stars or grabbing a late bite with friends, High Bar is one of those spots that feels like a secret hangout above the city noise.
The views from the rooftop are breathtaking. Oh, hello Empire States Building…I see you!
Tranzit Restaurant & Bar
Tranzit Restaurant & Bar is a surprisingly chill spot to unwind after a day of Midtown madness. The vibe leans modern and relaxed, with floor-to-ceiling windows that let in the city’s energy without overwhelming you. Tranzit delivers that low-key, urban lounge feel.
I decided to have a light dinner here before my show. I had some delicious coconut shrimp and a lovely glass of Cabernet.
Next it was off to see a show! The hotel is conveniently located within walking distance to so many great Broadway show. That night I saw The Great Gatsby. (Run and see this show if you’re in NY).
Goodnight New York
After a busy day I could hardly wait to get my head on their comfortable pillows. One last peek at my stunning view of the New York skyline before shutting my eyes.
After a wonderful night’s sleep, it was time to move to my next hotel in downtown NYC where my conference was.
But First…Let’s Do a Quick Workout
I never feel the need to work out when I’m in NYC since I always do a ridiculous amount of walking. However, since I was already a bit sore from yesterday’s exploring, I decided to go down to the fitness room to do some light weights and some yoga stretches before I started my day. The hotel has a well-equipped fitness room with cardio machines and free weights.
