506 On the River Inn
There is nothing more relaxing than driving around the winding river roads of Vermont…wind blowing through open windows and green mountains looming in the distance. It has been a crazy year and I was so thrilled to escape for two nights before the girls get out for summer vacation. I stayed in two amazing places and the first was at 506 On the River Inn, in Woodstock.
A soon as I pulled up to the inn, I was greeted with the rustic décor of their front porch.
The gorgeous farmhouse décor continued in the reception area. How amazing is this front desk?
There is also a comfortable seating area.
It is the little touches all over the inn that makes it stand out.
And take a peek at how pretty the hallways are decorated!
Your kids will love bringing their bags up to your room with these fun wagons.
Let me show you around my room. I stayed in room #209 a
Riverview King
As soon as I stepped into my room, I felt a sense of calm. It was 93 degrees outside and the air conditioning felt amazing.
The room had a luxury king bed with a simple white comforter and four soft pillows.
The room has a sitting area, with an easy chair, ottoman, and side table. This would be a nice place to read at the end of the day.
There was also a sofa that contained a single pull-out bed. This would be perfect if I had one of my daughters with me. The glass coffee table was a nice touch.
It was so spacious…275 square feet…and had lots of natural light.
I was so happy to see that I had my own mini fridge, since I purchased some Vermont cheese and cider that morning! There was also a microwave, which would have been wonderful to heat up snacks and meals. I often use the microwave to heat up some tea at the end of the night.
Now let me show you my favorite part of the room…my view!
The room had a lovely step out balcony with two rocking chairs and a small table. The large lawn area was the perfect backdrop to my room and you could see the river. It was the perfect place to have some Vermont cider.
My bathroom had lovely textured marble tiles and ample room on the vanity. There was a shower/tub combo that was so inviting.
Let me take you around the inn…
First, let me show you my favorite room. The inn has a huge parlor with one of the best bars I have ever seen. They serve a wonderful menu of craft cocktails and have a good variety of local craft beers.
The room is incredible and has lots of comfortable places to relax.
One of my favorite areas in the room is this warm fireplace.
The library is the perfect place for families to hang out. The pool table is a takes center stage.
There is also an area that has a cozy sitting area.
As well as an area with couches, lounge chairs and a coffee table.
The shelves are filled with books and board games.
One of my favorite features of the room are these chandeliers hanging from the cathedral ceilings. How gorgeous are they!
Imagine reading a book in this comfortable chair!
On the first floor is an area for kids. The inn runs special scavenger hunts where they can earn prizes.
There is also a toddler room, which is perfect for the youngest guests.
The inn also has a great game room that the entire family will love. It has a foosball table, air hockey table, some arcade games.
And a basketball hoops game.
After an afternoon of walking around Woodstock, I couldn’t wait to check out the pool. The water was crystal clear and was a wonderful place to swim laps. The wall of windows floods the room with light.
The pool has a long hot tub area where you can sit, feel the jets at your back, and look at the foliage outside. I can imagine how magical it would be to sit in there during a snowstorm.
The pool area has the prettiest set of lounge chairs I’ve seen. I adore these 506 pillows and wooden crates.
The cleanliness of the pool area shows they take great pride in the inn.
It was the perfect place to spend the afternoon.!
Just when you thought it couldn’t get more relaxing, let me show you this little gem the inn has…their sauna.
The inn has a stunning outdoor area that I have to show you!
There are also some lovely indoor sitting areas. There is a lovely covered porch with a seating area that overlooks the pond.
On the ground floor is another outdoor area with plenty of tables set up.
There is a small pond where you will hear frogs croaking.
And there is a gazebo filled with toys for guests to play with on the huge lawn.
Now let me show you my favorite area of the inn.
The river…
You walk down this beautiful path
To reach these Adirondack chairs set up along the river.
Just look at this amazing view! It is so peaceful out here.
The inn looks gorgeous from here.
506 Bistro and Bar
The inn has a fabulous bistro, but unfortunately it was not open on the day I was there. They have a seasonal menu that incorporates ingredients from local Vermont farms. There are many places to eat inside the inn like these booths
Or tables and chairs around the room.
You can also dine on the covered porch if you want to sit outside for your meal.
After an amazing night’s sleep, I decided to start my day off my brewing some coffee in my room and taking it out to my balcony to enjoy the view, read the paper, and breathe in the morning air.
After my coffee, I couldn’t wait to go down and have something to eat. The inn serves a complimentary country breakfast. The Farmhouse Kitchen is the perfect place to start your day. They are known for their hearty breakfast of eggs, bacon, sausage, and home fries. They also have a great oatmeal bar with all the fixings you’d need. If you’re craving fresh baked pastries and bread, you can top them with maple cream, jams, or Vermont cheddar. If you’re looking for a healthy meal, they also have fresh fruit, granola, and yogurt. I had fluffy French toast with Vermont maple syrup with a yogurt parfait on the side.
Who would I recommend it to?
The inn is casual and welcoming and is the perfect place to stay with families. Since there are many romantic things to do in the area, it would be a lovely place to stay for a couple’s getaway. Since the town has spas, restaurants, and shopping would make it a fun place to spend a girls’ weekend.
What are some things you could do in the area?

Billings Farms (I dare you to not fall in love with these cows!)
Sugarbush Farm (Cheese galore!!)

Tips for Planning your Stay
The inn offers breakfast every morning from 7:00 -10:00 am.
Parking: There is plenty of parking at the inn.
Room choice? I would definitely get a room with a water view. I would also recommend a room on the higher floors for an even better view.
There is a fitness center so you can burn off the crazy amount of cheese you’ll eat in Vermont!
They are not offering house cleaning services right now but if you need towels, sheets, or bath amenities you can call the front desk.
All rooms include a blow dryer, iron, ironing board, safe, and bath products.
There are 24-hour drinks and ice vending machines.
There is a toddler playroom, which is perfect for their younger guests.
