Manchester, Vermont
If you’re heading to southern Vermont and looking for a charming place to stay that feels like a true escape but still has all the comforts of home, The Aspen at Manchester, is a hidden gem. Nestled right in the heart of the Green Mountains, it is one of those places that makes you want to extend your trip just a little bit longer. Whether you’re traveling solo, with your partner, or the whole family, The Aspen makes a perfect home base for a Manchester getaway.
I traveled to Manchester during my 3-night solo Vermont trip in July. Let me tell you all about my stay.
Location, Location, Location
One of the biggest perks of staying at The Aspen is its location. It’s situated right on Main Street in Manchester, Vermont, which means you’re just minutes away from cute boutiques, hiking trails, and delicious restaurants. It’s the kind of place where you can walk out your door and be at the nearest coffee shop in two minutes—or hop in the car and be hiking up Equinox Mountain in under fifteen. This central location makes it ideal for exploring the town or venturing out to nearby attractions.
First impression of The Aspen at Manchester
Pulling into the driveway, The Aspen gives off those classic Vermont vibes—clean, cozy, and surrounded by greenery. The well-maintained property feels welcoming with its retro layout, and you can tell it’s been thoughtfully updated. The exterior is bright and inviting, and the views of the surrounding hills are a peaceful bonus. There’s a quiet charm to the place that makes you instantly relax.
The Lobby
The lobby at The Aspen is simple but stylish, with modern-rustic touches and friendly staff. It’s warm and welcoming—exactly what you want in a Vermont stay. You can grab local recommendations, chat with the staff, or just soak in the homey vibes while sipping a complimentary tea or coffee.
There’s also a lounge area to unwind or wait for friends before heading out. It is a great place for community. I spoke to a sweet gentleman that has been coming to The Aspen for 12 years and he was so exciting at the changes the hotel has made in the last few years.
I love that games are set up. It sets an inviting tone.
There is a large wooden dining table where you can enjoy breakfast, play board games, or get work done.
They also have an area where you can help yourself to beach towels and toiletries you may have forgotten.
Let me show you around my room
I stayed in a
Deluxe King
If you’re looking to elevate your stay a bit, The Deluxe King rooms at The Aspen are worth the upgrade. These rooms offer a bit more space to stretch out, often featuring updated décor, a comfy sitting area, and sleek modern touches that give it a boutique-hotel feel without the hefty price tag.
My room had a comfortable king bed and the pillows were amazing. There was a flat-screen tv, a Keurig coffeemaker, and an ironing board and iron. The Wi-Fi worked really well and I never had any problems with it.
I loved the dining area in the room. It was a nice place to eat or get work done. The room had a refrigerator which was wonderful to chill some local wine and cheese I had purchased.
The view from my room was so pretty.
My bathroom was large and had a beautiful shower. It had lots of water pressure, and was very spacious. The white subway tiles, black fixtures, and wood floors give it a charming farmhouse style.
As much as I loved my room, I couldn’t wait to explore the grounds. Let me show you around.
Pool Time
It was a perfect July day and there was one place I wanted to be…the pool. The outdoor pool is a major highlight of the hotel. It’s clean, well-kept, and has a lovely lounging area with umbrellas and chairs. It’s perfect for a quick dip after hiking or just lounging on a sunny afternoon.
I was fortunate to have the pool all to myself and it was the perfect temperature. Anyone else love reading a book or magazine while in the pool? I could have spent hours here.

What did I do in town?
Before checking in, I decided to explore Manchester. I haven’t been here since I was in college (we would come for the outlet shopping) and the town has changed a lot.
First, I visited Hildene, the home of the son of Abraham Lincoln. It is a large historic house that you can do a self-tour.
They also have gorgeous gardens out back with stunning views of the mountains.
After the gardens, go see the 1903 Pullman train.
Finally, head down to the goat farm and see the adorable goats. When I was there, they had so many sweet babies.
For lunch I got some delicious pad thai from Thai Basil.
I then went into town and did some shopping. My favorite spots included Northshire Bookstore.
I also got a latte at Colburn Café.
Hazel & Bee is such a cool store and I got some great gifts for my daughters.
And had a delicious dinner at Mulligan’s with a college girlfriend. It was so fun being back in Vermont with her and reminiscing about old times. Plus, the food was delicious and the outdoor patio was charming.
Sunset Time!
After returning to the hotel, I was just in time to enjoy a glass of wine on the back porch.
Mother Nature showed off a breathtaking display of color.
After a wonderful night’s sleep, I couldn’t wait to go down and get some breakfast. They serve a simple complimentary breakfast that consists of toast, English muffin, cereal, coffee, muffins, yogurt, and juice.
One last look at the view
Before I left, I decided to enjoy a cup of coffee on the back porch and enjoy the view one more time. I can never get sick of these mountains. I love Vermont!
