Mountain Meadows Lodge
I can’t think of anything that depicts the quintessential Vermont experience than staying in a 180-year-old historic cow barn & farmhouse in Killington. Mountain Meadows Lodge lies on six peaceful acres of land on the banks of the 100-acre Kent Pond. The mountains offer a scenic backdrop and you’ll feel like you’re standing in a postcard.
The rustic farmhouse ambiance starts as soon as you pull onto the property.
As soon as I walked into the lodge, my eyes were drawn to their amazing reception desk.
There are two options for lodging. Set in the original 1835 Farmhouse. The Farmhouse rooms are have New England rustic charm and comfort. It is right next door to the main lodge.
My room was in the main lodge in the 1835 barn. This building oozes Vermont charm with stunning hand-hewn beams and antique furniture. It has a rustic farmhouse feel with luxurious comfort and modern amenities.
Let me show you around my room…
I stayed in room #19, a
Lakeview King with a View.
The first thing you’ll notice when you walk in the room are the gorgeous beams and wood accents. They immediately give a cozy country feel.
The room had rustic nightstands, sconces, and tv stand.
You’ll want to jump into this luxurious king size bed. The comforter was a simple white, which adds to the gray/white color scheme.
The room had a small refrigerator and microwave. I used it to store the Vermont cheese I bought from Sugarbush Farm!
The bathroom has a stunning wooden barn door.
The bathroom has a beautiful tiled glass shower with a rain shower. The vanity had a great sink and faucet.
My room had a small balcony that overlooked Kent Pond. It was such a lovely view. I only wish there was a chair on the balcony so I could sit out there and enjoy the view.
As much as I loved my room, I couldn’t wait to explore the grounds.
Let me take you on a tour…
First off, I have to introduce you to the cutest member of the lodge family…DAISY! She is so sweet and you’ll see her walking around the lodge hanging out with guests. She even likes to go on hikes with them!
I fell in love with her adorable face!
So, back to the lodge…the hallways have rugged chandeliers hanging from the ceiling and the rustic old beams.
Even the elevators have character. Check out this tic-tac-toe board.
The lodge has a game room the whole family can use! It has a pool table, foosball table,
dart board, and arcade game.
There is also a room that has board games, puzzles, and books.
There is a cozy nook that is perfect for the youngest guests.
Want to watch a game or movie? Right off the game room is a nook where you can curl up on these cozy couches and enjoy your night.
If you’re here during winter and skiing throughout your visit, there are lockers that are perfect to store all of your gear.
After a day of exploring the town, you may want to head to the sauna room to relax and sooth your sore muscles. There is a shower as well as a sitting area.
The sauna is huge and would be wonderful during winter after a day of skiing.
The lodge has an amazing parlor with an antique bar.
It is absolutely stunning!
There are so many details around this room that it takes a while to have it all sink in. There are many spots to sit and have a drink or light snack.
One of my favorite areas of the lodge is this area that centers around the stone fireplace. It is the perfect place to grab a drink and relax. I sat here and read my book and it was so peaceful.
On the opposite side of the room is another gathering area. This side has a wonderful view of the pond.
Next I wanted to explore that beautiful view I saw from my room.
Let’s take a look at the dock…
I headed down to the dock with a magazine and spent some time just staring at how gorgeous Kent Pond is.
The dock is the perfect place to relax and breathe in the Vermont air.
Look at how stunning the lodge looks from here!
If you feel like getting out onto the pond, the lodge has some canoes and kayaks guests can use. They have life jackets you can borrow as well. For the kiddos, there are water toys that can be used.
Around the lawn there are rustic Adirondack chairs facing the pond.
And that’s when I found this hidden gem!
It felt so nice to lie back on this hammock looking at the water.
Since it started raining, I decided to grab a “Put a Little Spice in it Margarita” and enjoy it on the covered terrace.
However, I was not alone out there. I had the BEST companion…Daisy came out to sit next to me and enjoy the breeze and the pitter patter of the rain. It was the perfect way to spend some of the afternoon.
Kent Bistro
Kent Bistro offers full dinner services as well as beverages from the bar. Unfortunately, the bistro was not open on the night I was there, but I will definitely be back to dine.
Since they weren’t serving dinner, I decided to grab some sushi from Sushi Yoshi, which is only a 5-minute drive from the lodge. There are many great restaurants in the area to choose from.
Breakfast
After a wonderful night’s sleep, I couldn’t wait to go down and have some breakfast. They serve a complimentary country breakfast that consists of hearty staples. The menu changes daily and this is what they were serving this morning.
For a lighter breakfast, they also have cereal, granola, Vermont Dairy Farm yogurt, fruit, and Vermont Coffee Co coffee.
What could you do in the area?
The Appalachian Trail traverses the property so there are lots of hikes you could do. Many people like to hike to Thundering Brook Falls. People also like to go:
Mountain Biking
Golfing
Fishing on Kent Pond
Canoeing, Kayaking, on Kent Pond
Killington Adventure Center
Hey skiers…
The lodge is just five miles to the Killington K1 Gondola and three miles to the Pico Base. A heated locker room and schedules shuttle service makes getting to the mountain simple.
Who would I recommend the lodge to?
The hotel is casual and welcoming and is the perfect place to bring families. It would also be a nice place to do a couple’s getaway since Vermont is very romantic.
Restaurants in the area:
The Foundry at Summit Pond
Liquid Art Eatery & Coffeehouse
Lookout Tavern
Peppino’s Ristorante Italino
JAX Food & Games
McGrath’s Irish Pub
Ok…one more peek at Daisy!!!
Tips for planning your stay:
The dining room offers complimentary breakfast.
Parking: There is complimentary parking on site.
Check-in: 4:00 Check-out 12:00
Room Choice: I would get a room with a water view (although I’m fairly certain they all have views.) I would also recommend a room on one of the higher floors.
Wi-Fi: It was complimentary and worked well.
There is a smart tv, so I watched Netflix and Hulu.
Coffee and tea served in the lobby all day.
They are not offering house cleaning services at this time, but you can call the front desk if you need any towels, sheets, or bath amenities.
They offer a nightly fire pit with S’mores.
There is a hot tub, however it wasn’t open when I was there.
