15 Ways to Entertain Kids on a Plane

stock5
One of the questions I’m most asked is “What tips do you have for keeping kids happy and busy on a plane?”  So I thought this would be a wonderful time to re-post one of my most popular articles.
Before I had kids I was a horrible flyer.  When turbulence would hit I’d practically sit on the lap of the person seated next to me.  (Awkward!) But after having kids, those fears were replaced by an even scarier one… fear of the crying/screaming child!! I want our vacation fun to start as soon as we get on the plane so I had to develop some tricks to keep the natives from getting restless. Now that my girls are 7 & 9 they can entertain themselves, but they’ve come to love our plane traditions so they’ve stuck.  Here are my Top 15 Ways to Entertain a Kid on a Plane:

Gramma in a Box Subscription Box…March Box

Smartass and Sass Subscription Box

Smartass and Sass Subscription Box

Warning to my dad…if you’re going to read this, be prepared there are going to be many curses in this piece…lol.  I found a box that I can’t stop telling all my friends about because the items in the box remind me of my friends and I after we’ve been drinking!  It is a perfect balance of snark and charm, with a dash of profanity!  That’s SO US!!! Smartass and Sass is an amazing way to treat yourself every month…and who deserves it more than you?

The creators of the box, Kim and Abby, seem like my kind of people. They call themselves silly weirdos that love to laugh…and they know every word to Wedding Crashers! Don’t they sound fun?!

What comes in each box?

Each Smartass and Sass box has 5-8 handmade, hilarious items. The items have a theme and all of the items relate to it. It includes things like mugs, notebooks, tote bags, water bottles, pens & pencils, magnets, candles, etc.  It has items you probably would never buy yourself but secretly wish someone would buy for you.  It reminds me of getting a care package from your best friend.

My theme was I LOVE ME

So, what did I get?  I can’t wait to show you!!

My new favorite ceramic mug! What an inspirational phrase…lol

Postcard Friday…London

Looking for a hotel? Take a peek at our review. Here’s where we stayed:

St. Ermin’s Hotel

Hilton Waldorf

Studio Allston, Boston

With so many hotels to choose from in Boston, it’s often hard to decide where to stay. The other night we had the pleasure of staying at Studio Allston and it was the most colorful hotel we’ve ever stayed at.  The artistic vibe is played out throughout the hotel and your eyes are drawn from one spot to the next.  It was the perfect location to escape the noise of the city, is only 15 minutes from downtown Boston, and is a short walk to Harvard.  It was so easy to drive here…and that’s coming from someone who usually would rather have a root canal than drive in a city!

Foot Soak…Treat Yo’ Self

TREAT YO’ SELF

FOOT SOAK

So, you’re telling me you are going to pay someone to let you stick your feet in water? Yes and no.  It’s more of an experience.  To me, it felt like the moment during a massage where you lay on the table waiting for the masseuse to come in and you’re listening to the relaxing music and hear no one call you Mommy.  It’s so relaxing and no one is even touching you.

WHAT DO YOU GET OUT OF A FOOT SOAK?

Ok…the salon says, “It is said that the feet mirror the body, corresponding to different organs and systems. In our custom foot soaks, we use different salt blends to try and replicate the waters of natural hot springs which are high in minerals. These minerals are believed to have healing properties when absorbed by the skin.”  Interesting.  What I got out of it was relaxation, a calm mind, time to myself, and my own quiet oasis…for 30 minutes.

ARE THERE DIFFERENT KINDS OF SOAKS?
