Looking for the perfect weekend escape in Maine? Ogunquit is a charming coastal town that has it all—beautiful beaches, stunning ocean views, and plenty of local attractions to explore. Whether you’re craving relaxation or adventure, this Ogunquit weekend itinerary will guide you through the best things to do, from walking the scenic Marginal Way to indulging in fresh seafood at local restaurants. Here is a perfect weekend itinerary for Ogunquit Maine, one of New England’s most picturesque seaside destinations!
Saturday
Walk Marginal Way
Starting from Marginal Way’s entrance at Sparhawk Oceanfront Resort on Shore Road, you’ll begin your scenic walk. This beautiful, coastal path stretches over a mile and offers stunning views of the Atlantic. It’s the perfect spot to enjoy the rugged coastline of Maine.
It’s an easy path, and along the way, you’ll find benches to sit and take in the scenery.
You will even pass the adorable Lobster Point Lighthouse.
(Read our full review of Marginal Way and get some tips.)
End your walk at Perkins Cove. Check out the cute shops and art galleries.
Perkins Cove Pottery Shop is one of my favorite. The handmade pottery is beautiful and it has lots of home décor.
Tailspin Studio has gorgeous art pieces.
The vibe here is relaxed, and the views of the harbor are stunning.
Are You Really in Maine if You Don’t Get a Lobster Roll?
For lunch, grab a lobster roll from Footbridge Lobster. People also like The Lobster Shack but I personally like Footbridge better. Their rolls are sweet and they use both mayo and butter…you have to try it.
Next, walk over the – bridge and enjoy the view on your way to your next stop.
Visit the Ogunquit Museum of American Art
Spend some time exploring this small but impressive museum. It’s right on the coast, so you get both art and ocean views in one stop.
Make sure you explore the sculpture garden, paths, and views.
Dinner at Oarweed Cove Restaurant
Want a fabulous dinner with an unforgettable view? Check out Oarweed Cove Restaurant. It’s right at Perkins Cove, so you can enjoy the ocean breeze while feasting on fresh seafood. They have fabulous cocktails…I recommend the crabmeat salad and the Blueberry Lemon Drop.
Sunday
Take a Boat Tour
If you have time, hop on a scenic boat tour from Perkins Cove. It’s a great way to see the coastline from a different perspective and maybe even spot some local wildlife.
Beach Time at Ogunquit Beach
Relax at Ogunquit Beach for the afternoon. With its wide sandy shore and gentle waves, it’s a great spot for swimming, sunbathing, or even just a beach walk.
Explore the Shops in Downtown Ogunquit
Before heading home, take a stroll through Ogunquit’s downtown area. There are lots of unique boutiques, art galleries, and gift shops to explore.
Time to Say Goodbye
Wrap up your weekend with one last look at the ocean before heading home. Ogunquit’s charm and coastal beauty make it hard to leave, but you’ll definitely be back!
