Winc
You all know I love getting boxes in the mail, whether it’s a subscription box or a club box, and I do a little twirl at my mailbox when one comes in. (That may explain a lot to my neighbors!) Well this box had me doing a full cartwheel because Winc is a WINE BOX!!!
Wine + surprise = Heaven!!
I love to try new wines, but I seem to always go with the same ones. This personalized wine club is a wonderful way to add some variety to your wine rack.
So, how does Winc work?
When you first begin, Winc will ask you 6 questions to help them assess your unique taste. Then you sit back, and each month they send you 4 wines specifically chosen to match your palate. After tasting your selection, you rate your wine, so they can get to know your palate even more. Love red? That’s fine. Only want to do white but hate chardonnay? That’s fine too.
Not everyone loves a surprise, right? Well that’s fine too because your other option is to select your own wine. This option gives you all the control.
So, before we go on…I know you’re dying to see what wine I got in my box!!
We were blown away with our wine choices and my friends and I had so much fun tasting a few over Labor Day weekend. Just look at how amazing these wines are!
Our first wine was Summer Water Rosé, 2017, from Southern California.
($18)
The wine had a dry sweetness with notes of grapefruit, strawberry, and white peach. This wine screamed summer, so we decided to bring it out on the boat with us. I really only drink rosé during summer so this was a nice treat!
That night we decided to pair our appetizers with
Folly of the Beast, 2016, Pinot Noir from Central Coast, California.
($18)
This dry pinot was so tasty with notes of cherry, clove, oak. One of the guys there was not a pinot drinker but even he had a second glass. I would buy this one again.
Rib eye steaks on the grill was the main course so we paired it with
Field Theory Mourvèdre, 2016, from Lime Kiln Valley, California
($38)
This one was our favorite! We all love cabernet sauvignon, so this was a nice alternative. It was dry with notes of anise, black currant, eucalyptus.
The last wine we got in our box was a
Pacificana Chardonnay, 2016, from California
($14)
I saved this one for a girls’ night out after coming home from spending the summer at the lake. I am not usually a huge fan of chardonnay, but I’m almost embarrassed to say how much of this wine I drank! Almost…but not really…this was an amazing white wine! It has notes of buttered popcorn, butterscotch, candied lemon, oak. We drank this ice cold and it was crisp and easy to drink.
