BarkBox Review

Some of you may know that I have a new guy in my life that I’m absolutely crazy about…THIS GUY…

If you’re a dog person, you know how hard it is to not spoil your little friend… they deserve it.  Finnegan was more than happy to help review BarkBox, a monthly subscription box for dogs.  What I like most about this company is they are crazy dog people like myself. I want to sneak over to their office since they say it’s filled with dogs barking, burping, wrassling and chirping.  Now THAT’S an office I could go to each day!  Since first launching in 2012, BarkBox has shipped over 50 million toys and treats, so they really know their stuff!

What do I love about this subscription box?

Being Prepared for Sick Kids on Vacation

I’ll never forget our nightmare eventful first morning on our trip to Turks and Caicos.  I woke up to the sound of birds chirping and waves crashing as I rolled over and wrapped myself up in our fluffy down comforter.  Oh, and did I mention it was a white comforter? When suddenly I noticed my sleepy five-year-old standing by my side lean over and throw up all over our bed. Perfect start to our vacation!

You can’t prevent your kids from being sick or getting hurt, but you can be prepared for these vacation hiccups by packing a few supplies.  We’ve seen it all…pneumonia in the Turks, ear infection in Florida, stomach bug in St. Lucia, sliced chin in Grand Cayman, jellyfish sting in Santorini, and countless sunburns.  (Holy cow…we’ve had some really bad luck!)  I’ve learned to pack for many “what if” situations.  Here’s what I always carry on vacation for these occasions:

Host the Perfect Cocktail Party with ROOT 23

The holiday season is always a time for us to stay closer to home and spend time with friends and family.  Every once in a while, cocktails are involved…hahaha…who are we kidding…cocktails are ALWAYS involved!  Often, these are last-minute get-togethers and so I always like to be prepared.

When ROOT 23 asked if I wanted to test out some of their simple syrups, I was more than happy to host a few cocktail hours!  ROOT 23 specializes in the farm to cocktail movement, using organic sugar and locally sourced ingredients, and they provided two syrups for us to taste along with six cocktail recipes.  I decided to divide it into two different tastings (You’re welcome liver).

What syrups did I receive?

Kidstir Subscription Box Review

If the television is on in my kids’ playroom it’s not hard to guess what will playing…a cooking challenge show! They love watching people come up with recipes, work together, and end up with a tasty treat.  I often hear, “5 MORE MINUTES!” screamed from the TV and my girls yelling, “Hurry Up!” They love to help me cook but we don’t get around to doing it too often because of the hassle of finding appropriate recipes, making a list of ingredients, and buying supplies needed to make the meal.  This can be quite a pain in the butt inconvenience.  Kidstir.com does all the planning for you so you only have the fun stuff to do!  My girls were anxiously awaiting this Kidstir.com subscription box and practically tore it open when it arrived.

What do I love about this box?

These Kidstir.com boxes are not full of junk food recipes, but instead it shows kids that healthy food can be fun to eat.  They believe by educating and empowering our kids about food, we can prepare them to make smart, healthy choices.  Also, if kids help prepare a meal, they are more likely to eat it.  Plus, it is a wonderful way for kids to gain life skills in the kitchen.

What comes in each box?

Itinerary for Grand Cayman

Sunset in Grand Cayman

When we traveled to Grand Cayman we had one thing in mind…get away from the depressing lovely piles of New Hampshire snow.  We wanted to soak in the sunshine and play in the sand.  We did a few outings but the beach was our main agenda.  Here is our 5-day itinerary for Grand Cayman:

Where do you fly in?

The best place to fly in is Owen Roberts International Airport

Where did we stay?

We rented an amazing condo at the Regal Beach Club. There were 2 pools and right on the stunning Seven Mile Beach.  The beaches were never crowded and the sand was powder white.

DAY 1

We always spend the first full day enjoying our hotel and spending time in the sun and sand with our family.  Splash in the pool or head to the closest beach and soak up all the sunshine!

After playing in the sun we had to do a few errands. Since we stayed at a condo, we went to the market to load up on local food to make for breakfasts and lunches. We found a farmer’s market and bought delicious local fruit and vegetables.

After lunch, we rented jet skis on 7 Mile Beach.
