Take a Walk
First stop is an amazing place to go on a walk. The town of Kennebunkport, Maine, is a peaceful coastal town and Saint Anthony’s Franciscan Monastery is a wonderful way to begin your day. The grounds are open to the public from sunrise to sunset and the friars welcome visitors. The grounds have two lovely outdoor chapels.
After you visit the chapels, take a riverside walk on their walking path. The path winds through wooded areas and opens up to views of the coast. There are benches throughout the paths and make sure you look for the wooden swing.

Lobstah’ Time!
From the Nonantum Resort, Rugosa Lobster Boat Tour boat is a 38’ wooden authentic lobster boat. The crew was wonderful with all the kids aboard and were informative as well as entertaining. This is an amazing way to view the dramatic coastline of Maine.
We learned how to set a trap and what the different colors on buoys mean. We watched traps being hauled and helped determine which lobsters were kept. The girls had the opportunity to hold a lobster, band their claws, and even got to give one a kiss. On the way back to the docks they were even allowed to drive the boat.
At last, the girls were so excited to pass the summer home of President Bush when we passed Walker Point since they’d only seen it from the road.
Something Sweet!
Rococo is an amazing spot that serves unique flavors of ice cream. Before you order make sure you taste a few of the different flavors and make sure you try some you would never imagine liking. You’ll be surprised. I ended up having the sweet avocado cayenne. My girls both had the Maine whoopee pie flavor. Look at these flavors…
What’s for Dinner?
The Ramp is one of our favorite restaurants in the area. It is so laid back that you will feel at home as soon as you walk in. Your kids will be entertained looking at all the signs hanging in every inch of the place and you will love their delicious cocktails. Make sure you go early to sit on their Adirondack chairs and look out at the beautiful view.
77 Pier Road, Kennebunkport, ME
After dinner, walk across the street and spend some time climbing on the rocks and looking at the lighthouse and lobster boats. Nothing screams ‘New England’ more than this view.
