Kennebunkport, Maine: Day 1

Kennebunkport, Maine: Day 1

Kennebunkport is one of my favorite coastal towns in Maine.  It is classy, yet welcoming, and the perfect destination for families.  It has it all… beaches, art galleries, lobster boats, and seafood restaurants.  Did I mention lobster?  Here is an itinerary for three perfect days in Kennebunkport!

Check into Your Hotel

The Nonantum Resort is one of the most beautiful resorts in Maine and the perfect destination for families, a girlfriends’ getaway, a couple’s romantic escape, or a solo trip.  Whether you’re looking for a relaxing getaway or one filled with adventure, this is the resort to book.  Look at how gorgeous it is!

After you drop off your bags in your room, head down to the water, find a cozy Adirondack chair and watch the boats go by for a while.  You can feel your stress melting away!

Grab Some Coffee

I love to sip on some coffee while I explore a new town and always try to find a local coffee house while I’m there.  Grab a latte at Dock Square Coffee House, and head to the footbridge to enjoy it as you look over the waterfront.

Farm & Table

I almost don’t want to tell you about this store because it is my favorite.  This stunning barn hold lots of house décor, candles, scarves, and kitchen tools.  I never leave empty handed.

8 Langsford Rd

Snug Harbor Farm

Snug Harbor Farm features five greenhouses, nurseries, And unique eclectic shops.  Throughout the farm you’ll see chickens, peacocks, horses, pheasants, ducks, geese, pigeons, and several others. There are beautiful surprises around every corner. It is an Instagram dream!

87 Western Avenue

Last stop of the morning is to Cape Porpoise, a small fishing village on the coast. Explore this pretty town.  Look at the lobster boats, people digging for clams, and fishermen working on the Cape Pier Harbor. Make sure you find the Zuke fish house on Langsford Road.

Lunch!

Since you’re in the area already, head to Nunan’s Lobster Hut and try their lobster stew.

9 Mills Rd

Shopping at Dock Square

If you love to shop, then you’ll love Dock Square.  It has quaint boutiques, souvenir stores, candy shops, coffee shops, and restaurants. If you need something, you can find it here.

Some of my favorite stores are:

Candy Man (A MUST stop for my girls!)

Minka (I love their jewelry.)

Copper Candle (This place smells amazing!)

Daytrip Society (Maine souvenirs)

Maine-ly Drizzle (awesome oil and vinegars)

Beach Grass (beachy home décor)

After shopping, cross the beautiful Kennebunkport Bridge (Mathew J. Lanigan Bridge) and take some time to peek at the boats in the river.

Cocktail Time!

Just across the bridge is Batson River Brewing.  I love their mule!

12 Western Ave, Kennebunk

What’s for Dinner?

Walk back across the bridge to have dinner at the Boathouse Restaurant.  Make sure you reserve a table on their deck.  It is the perfect setting for a romantic dinner outside.

The restaurant offers an Asian twist on seafood and the menu had lots of great options. The view of the Kennebunk River is even more amazing at night. Get there for sunset and watch the sky turn into flames.

My husband and I had an amazing meal here.  I had the Seared Shrimp & Scallops (Lobster fried rice, sesame egg, baby bok choy).

Head back to the resort for a good night’s sleep.
