October Product Roundup: Products I Loved While Camping This Summer

As many of you know, we spent A LOT of time outdoors this summer camping each weekend while our house was being built.  We got to experience lots of different products and these are a few of my favorites! So…the Product Roundup for September is all about products you can use while CAMPING! Enjoy!

Kachula Adventure Blanket

WHY TRAVELERS WILL LOVE THEM:  When you’re traveling, you need to expect the unexpected.  This blanket is the most versatile I’ve seen.  You can take it with you to the beach, the park, camping, on road trips…it’s endless. Feeling sleepy? This blanket stuffs into itself so you can use it as a pillow.  It also has a snap-attached hood so it can be used as an emergency poncho.  There are many colors you could choose from.  Personally, I wouldn’t have chosen the camouflage one, since there were several others that are more my style.

WHAT ELSE I LOVE ABOUT THEM: The top of this blanket is made from a soft flannel material and the bottom is a water-resistant nylon.  We used it last weekend at a soccer game.

COST: $47

Honga Board Game

WHY TRAVELERS WILL LOVE THEM: One of my favorite things about summer are the long afternoons where we have time to connect as a family.  We love playing board games while we’re at the lake and it’s great when we find one we all like.  In Honga, you are all cavemen trying to become the new tribe leader.  You win by collecting the most supplies, bartering, and paying homage to the old nature gods.

WHAT ELSE I LOVE ABOUT THEM: I like that the game is easy to learn since sometimes the directions can be hard for an 11-year-old.  It is a tactical game that is good for beginners but is still fun for someone that likes to be challenged.

COST: $49.99

HydraCell Lantern & Flashlight

WHY TRAVELERS WILL LOVE THEM: When you’re out in nature, you need to rely on your products to work.  I am notorious for not having the right battery on hand.  These amazing products harness the power of water and air to power the lights.  All you do is dip the HydraCell into water for about 15 seconds and poof…it works.  These are the perfect thing to have in each of our tents.

WHAT ELSE I LOVE ABOUT THEM: One cell will give you roughly 200+ hours of power! How amazing is that! They were so easy to set up.  In fact, my 11-year-old set ours up by following the simple instructions.  I love that they are biodegradable and free of toxins.

COST: $40 lantern

Ortho-Cerv Headleveler Travel Pillow

WHY TRAVELERS WILL LOVE THEM: You all know I love a good pillow and this one is small enough that you can bring it anywhere, yet large enough to comfortably fit your head.  You can take these pillows on airplanes, trains, or long car rides.  My girls have been using them in their tent and then in the car when we drive home from the lake each weekend.  The pillow offers great neck support and the middle of the pillow molds to fit your head.  I wish it had come with pillow cases because I didn’t have any that fit it.  You can buy pillow cases on their website.

WHAT ELSE I LOVE ABOUT THEM: You have no clue how many people have used those pillows in a hotel room.  It makes me cringe, and with these pillows you can rest comfortably knowing it is clean.  These pillows are hypoallergenic and can be thrown in the washing machine whenever they need to be washed.

COST: $90

Teal Trunk Sponges

WHY TRAVELERS WILL LOVE THEM: When you are camping, there are so many messy situations that need cleaning.  I love that these sponges are mildew resistant.  Also, since they don’t harbor bacteria, you don’t have to worry about cross contamination.   Since it has a strap, it is easy to hold and makes scrubbing a piece of cake.

WHAT ELSE I LOVE ABOUT THEM: We used them to wash dirty paw prints off the boat seats, clean off picnic tables, and even scrubbed the fabric on our chaise loungers. They come in cute colors and you can throw them in the dishwasher to clean them. Now that we’re home, I’ve been using them to wash dishes, wash fruit and vegetables, and my daughter uses one to clean her makeup brushes.

Smelly Proof Storage Bags

WHY TRAVELERS WILL LOVE THEM: My lake house is 17 miles from the nearest grocery store and while I’m there, I don’t want to waste time in a store, so I bring as much prepared food as I can.  These bags are great to pack sliced cheese, pepperoni, raw vegetables, poultry, and snacks for the kids. The bags seal in any odor, even the fresh tuna we would bring out to the boat to grill up each week.

WHAT ELSE I LOVE ABOUT THEM: They are sturdy and easy to seal up…even for the kids.  They also come in many different sizes and colors. I’m not a nature-girl, so I was paranoid that bears would come into our tents.  These bags made me feel more comfortable with the kids having snacks in their tent.

COST: Varies depending on size
