Stonewall Kitchen Cooking School Review

For the past few years, every time I am on the Maine seacoast, I wish I could find the time to do a class at Stonewall Kitchen Cooking School.  Last October, I finally got the chance to do it on my way home after staying in Freeport.  I am so glad I did because it was a fun way to spend the morning! Take a peek…

Who does the cooking?

Chef Jane St. Pierre was our instructor and she is my kind of gal…loves bacon, wine, and chocolate. She was entertaining and knowledgeable and taught us many helpful tips.  These classes are not hands-on, but rather observational. She did a nice job encouraging the class to interact with her.

They provide a screen so you can get an upclose view of the prep.

How many people were there? Do they social distance?

There were 11 of us in the class.  They did a wonderful job social distancing.  They are limiting the number of people allowed in the class, so they are only half full.  The classes are usually first come seating but now they have assigned seats.  People that come together sit next to each other, but they separate groups with empty seats.

What did the chef prepare?

I wish you could smell this post!

BACON-WRAPPED BRUSSEL SPROUTS WITH BALSAMIC AIOLI DIPPING SAUCE

PARMESAN-CRUSTED CHICKEN CUTLETS

WHIPPED CELERIAC WITH BROWN BUTTER ALONGSIDE LEMON ORZO

PEAR AND GINGER TART TATIN

Did we get to sample the food?

Not only did we sample it, but we got a full meal with the class! It had generous portions and I was full when I left!

How much did it cost?

$55

Do they have many classes?

They had a TON of weekly cooking classes and most of them sounded awesome.

Take a peek at their schedule.

Would I go again?

Definitely! I think next time I will bring my older daughter because she loves cooking and I think she would learn a lot from this class.  It really is a great way for teens to learn some life skills while having fun.  I think it would be a great bonding time for us.  It would also be a fun girls’ day, or date with hubby, but I felt completely comfortable going alone.

Stonewall Kitchen store:

Before my class I poked into the store to have a look around. It is always seasonaly decorated and it has everything you would ever need to cook a fabulous meal!  Another plus to the class is they give you a great coupon you can use at the store that day, so don’t buy anything before the class.

I can’t wait to recreate the meal at home with my family!
