Tips for a Perfect Bath

Warm sudsy water surrounds you while you shut your eyes and lean your head back onto the cool tub.  The scent of lavender fills the room as you hear the rhythmic drip of the faucet. Bath has been used for healing and relaxation since the beginning of time and they play a large role in most cultures.  It is the easiest way to unwind and focus some time on yourself.

So, what are some benefits of a bath?

Helps you catch some zzzzzzz’s.

Helps with aching muscles.

Improves your mood.

Eases effects of illness.

Helps you control stress

Soothes skin.

Improves cardiovascular health.

Improves circulation.

How to take the perfect bath…

Check the temp: You want your bath to be around 93 degrees.

Lighting:  Dim your lights, or better yet, turn them off and light some candles.

Music:  Play some relaxing music in the background to make you feel like you are in a tropical spa.

Get smooth:  Add some bath oil, bath salt, or a bath bomb to make your skin feel silky smooth.

Face time:  (Um…no…not that Facetime.)  A bath is the perfect time to do a face mask since you have the time to let it sit.

Aromatherapy:  Think about what you want to get out of your bath?  Want to relax? Use lavender.  Want to focus?  Use peppermint.  Want to relieve a cold?  Use eucalyptus.

Watch the clock:  Don’t spend so much time in the tub that you get cold and wrinkly, because it may eliminate all the benefits you just reaped.

Read:  This is the perfect opportunity to read a good book or magazine.

Eyes shut: Take 5 minutes at the end of your bath to shut your eyes and focus on taking deep breaths.

Lotion up: After your bath, use your favorite lotion all over your body to keep it silky smooth.

Get cozy:  After your bath, make sure you put on a comfortable cotton robe, fuzzy slippers, and your favorite PJ’s.

How can you create a spa experience at home?

Body & Bath Oil: The lavender scent will sooth you into a perfect night of sleep as well as add moisture to your skin and make it silky smooth.

Bath Pillow:  A bath pillow suctions onto your tub and gives your neck support and comfort.

Bath Caddy: This bath caddy will hold all your goodies like soap, lotion, music, and beverage.  I love the wine holder!

Bubble Bath:  The Honest Company makes a soothing lavender bubble bath.  I like that it is tear-free so your kids can splash around in it.

Sleep Mask: Sometimes you need to just block out the world and relax.  This mask is silky and breathable.

Robe:  This lightweight robe is great for when you get out of a bath because it easily slips on and is not too heavy.  The ¾ length sleeves lets you easily do your nightly routine.

Candle: This lavender soy candle burns nicely, and the scent is not overpowering.
