Weekend in Woodstock, Vermont
Day 1
Spend your morning getting to know downtown Woodstock. There are tons of adorable boutiques to poke in to. Here are a few of my favorite shops:
37 Central
Fossil Glass
Yankee Books
- H Gillingham & Sons
Unicorn
Red Wagon Toy Co.
Stop in to Mon Vert Café, order a latte and walk around enjoying the view.
One of my favorite stores is outside of downtown, but right next to the inn. Make sure you visit Farmhouse Pottery.
You know I’m a sucker for covered bridges and Vermont has some of the best! Drive to the Quechee Bridge, park, and explore the bridge. It has a walkway you can go onto to see the falls.
The falls are so powerful.
Then, head down to the park to get a look at the falls as well as the bridge. It is gorgeous!
LUNCH: Stop in to Simon Pierce to have lunch on their patio.
Next it is time to head to the Vermont Institute of Natural Science. Their Forest Canopy Walk lets you experience being eye level to the treetops without the fear. At some points you’re over 50 feet in the air!
Make sure you stay and watch a Raptor Program to learn all about some amazing birds.
After a day of fun activities, it’s time to check in to your hotel. I highly recommend 506 on the River Inn when staying in Woodstock.
You can spend the rest of the afternoon swimming in the pool,
playing lawn games, and relaxing in an Adirondack chair by the river.
Have dinner at the inn.

Day 2
After a filling country breakfast on the deck, it’s time to enjoy some quintessential Vermont farms!
Spend the morning at Billings Farm & Museum. There is a wonderful museum that has recreations of life in rural Vermont.
Now it is time to check out some of the adorable animals they have there. Head to the fields to see the cows.
Come on…cuteness overload!
Make sure you go to the milking barn.
By now you’re probably ready for a sweet treat. Order a maple cream soft serve, find a bench, and enjoy the view.
On the way to your next destination, stop at Taftsville Covered Bridge. Drive through the bridge and pull over to appreciate how pretty it is with the mountains in the background.
Your next destination is Sugarbush Farm. Walk the Maple Sugar Trail to learn how sap is collected.
Then, sample some amazing cheese and maple syrup before buying some.
Enjoy the beauty of this 4th generation farm.
Next, take a 20-minute drive to Windsor. Stop in at Simon Pierce to watch the artists create breathtaking pieces of glass.
Shop for some pieces to bring home.
Another wonderful store is Blake Hill Preserve Maker.
They have many unique flavors, both sweet and savory.
The best part is you can do a free preserve tasting!
Silo Distillery is another great stop!
Another fabulous place to see the work of local artisans is Andrew Pearce. They make stunning wood bowls and if you’re lucky you can see them making the bowls right in the shop.
On the way home, stop at the Cornish-Windsor Covered Bridge, the longest wooden bridge in the United States and the longest two-span covered bridge in the world!
If I had more time, I would have…
Gotten a spa treatment at the Woodstock Inn.
Gone to the Montshire Museum of Science (if I had the kids).
Gone to New England Falconry and had a hawk flying experience.
Checked out some local art galleries. (Like the Woodstock Art Gallery)
Explored Marsh-Billings- Rockefeller National Park.
Walked over to the Middle Covered Bridge in the square.
Gone to the local farmers market in the square. (I think they are held Wednesday afternoon)
