Beaches Ocho Rios

When we decided to go away for Christmas, something we’ve been talking about for years, we had some pretty big requirements.  We wanted a resort that was family-friendly, all-inclusive, had activities we could do as a family, had plenty of restaurant choices, and was a place where we could relax and play together.  Beaches Ocho Rios fit all of these and we soon began counting down the days until our Christmas vacation!

10 Things to do when You’re Sick While Traveling

10 Things to do when You’re Sick While Traveling

Life doesn’t always happen the way you want it to and sometimes even when you’re in paradise, you can get sick.  I wish you could just snap your fingers and feel better, but it’s not that easy.  However, there are some things you can do to help your recovery or at least make yourself more comfortable.  Here are 10 things you can do when you’re sick while traveling:

REST:  I know you’ve spent a long time planning this trip and have lots of adventures you want to do, but if you don’t want to be sick for your entire trip, you need to get some rest.  Grab some pillows and blankets and camp out on the couch in your hotel room.  Tell your family to have a fun day without you and spend your day recovering.

SLEEP:  I’m sure you’re dying to get out and explore the town, but you need to get plenty of sleep. Go to bed early and sleep late.  Lack of sleep will weaken your immune system so this is the perfect time to take naps.  I always pack Nyquil in my suitcase.

HOT SHOWERS:  A stuffy head, aching sinuses, and a nagging cough may have you feeling miserable, but a hot steamy shower will loosen the congestion and make you breathe a little easier.  You could also run hot water in the bathroom sink, hold your head over it and drape a towel over yourself to get some reliefs.  Be careful not to burn yourself.

Fourways Inn, Bermuda Review

Last week I was so lucky to head to Bermuda with my friend for four nights without kiddos! Yep…I said it…NO KIDDOS!! Our first stop was the Fourways Inn for two nights. Instead of a tradition hotel building, the inn features a cottage colony, with 11 units to choose from so you feel like a small community rather than just another room in a hotel.

Newpark Hotel

Newpark Hotel

Tucked away in the Irish countryside, Kilkenny is about an hour’s drive from Dublin.  It’s a great stopping point to visit Jerpoint Abbey and, of course, Kilkenny Castle.  Located on the edge of Kilkenny City, the Newpark Hotel offers the perfect place to call home while exploring the area.  The hotel rests on 40 acres of beautiful parkland and there are endless things for families to do together.

Red Jacket Beach Resorts in Cape Cod

Red Jacket Beach Resorts in Cape Cod

Cape Cod is one of my favorite New England beach destinations that’s filled with the perfect mix of relaxation and family fun.  While on the Cape last month, we had the pleasure of staying at the Red Jacket Beach Resort. (Click here for the full review.)  The best thing about staying at a Red Jacket Resort is you can use the amenities of all five Red Jacket Resorts.  This makes planning so easy and gives you endless options of fun activities. While we were there we were able to tour the other four resorts, and we were so impressed with each one.  We even went back to a few of them the next day to play.  Here are some of the things we liked best about each resort:

Blue Water Resort

The resort is set on a gorgeous white sand beach.

Pleasant Bay Village Resort, Cape Cod

After a long school year full of homework, studying for tests, and early mornings, my girls deserved some fun in the sun.  So where did we escape to?  To the beautiful beaches of Cape Cod of course! Our first stop was to Pleasant Bay Village Resort in the quaint town of Chatham.  This family-owned resort is in the perfect central location in the elbow of Cape Cod.

Ashworth by the Sea

It is already April in New Hampshire and it is STILL SNOWING! Seriously, I don’t know who made Mother Nature angry, but she’s not letting us forget who is in charge.  Thanks to the Hotel Tonight App we were reviewing, we were able to choose from a number of hotels to stay in.  We had two criteria: it had to have a pool and we wanted to smell the ocean from our room.  The Ashworth by the Sea gave us this and much more.

Cape Codder Resort and Spa

At times I like to travel with just one of my daughters so we can spend some quality one-on-one time together.  Recently, I was so pleased to be able to stay at the Cape Codder Resort and Spa, in Hyannis, with my youngest.  After looking at the website and seeing the hotel has a water park, she could hardly stop talking about it.  The hotel did not disappoint and we had a fabulous time playing throughout our stay.  The hotel is located near several beautiful Cape Cod beaches, and near many restaurants and adorable shop.

Lake Opechee Inn and Spa

My kids are so fun to travel with, but every once in a while, it’s nice to be alone to relax.  Since the end of the school year is full of obligations, I thought this would be a great time to rejuvenate before the final stretch of school, and the Lake Opechee Inn and Spa was the perfect place to go.  I couldn’t have imagined how relaxed I would feel when I left.
