Blue Lagoon Island

Who doesn’t daydream of spending the day on their own private tropical island? A trip to Blue Lagoon Island will let you live out this dream as you spend the day lounging on a pristine beach or having water adventures…whatever your heart desires.

It all starts as soon as you are picked up in their high-speed, double-decker catamaran.  We enjoyed stunning views of Nassau Harbor and Paradise Island as crystal blue water soared under us.  When we pulled up to the island the sand was a white powder and the lounge chairs called to us as we walked down the dock.

The clear turquoise waters looked like a scene from a movie and we couldn’t wait to jump in.

As you lay in the hammocks, or sit in lounge chairs, you hear the chirping of tropical birds as the breeze flows through the coconut palm trees…but there was no time for sitting around because we had some adventures to do first!

Beaches Ocho Rios

When we decided to go away for Christmas, something we’ve been talking about for years, we had some pretty big requirements.  We wanted a resort that was family-friendly, all-inclusive, had activities we could do as a family, had plenty of restaurant choices, and was a place where we could relax and play together.  Beaches Ocho Rios fit all of these and we soon began counting down the days until our Christmas vacation!

Bermuda Itinerary

Newstead Belmont Hills Resort Pool

Bermuda

Sometimes you’ve got to get away and recharge without your kiddos.  You come back refreshed, unstressed, and ready to be the best parent possible.  Bermuda was the perfect location for us because it is only a 2-hour flight from Boston. With its pink sand beaches, turquoise waters, and charming colonial towns, is the ideal destination for a mix of relaxation and adventure. This 5-day Bermuda itinerary will guide you through the island’s best activities, attractions, and local cuisine.  My good friend and I spent four fabulous nights there.  Here was our Bermuda itinerary:

DAY 1

Took our flight from Boston to Bermuda.  (2-hour flight!)

Checked into our hotel, The Fourways Inn. (Read our full review of the hotel HERE)

The Fourways Inn, Bermuda

We went to the local market to buy cheese and cocktails.  We had planned on spending the rest of the afternoon by the pool, but it rained.  That was fine since we enjoyed rosé and cheese near the terrace.

We had an amazing dinner at the restaurant.

Natura Cave Spa, Bermuda

Warning…after having a spa treatment at Natura Cave Spa, it will ruin all future spa treatments as this may be the most memorable spa experience you’ll ever have!  Located at the Grotto Bay Beach Resort in Bermuda, the spa takes advantage of the famous caves of Bermuda and allows you to enjoy them as your sanctuary throughout your treatment.  It is like being in heaven!  Let me walk you through my morning!

We saw the entrance of the spa and it immediately peaked our interest. It is an inconspicuous locked door that is accessible from the outside of the resort. Beside the door, in beautifully manicured gardens, is a bench where you wait until your appointment time.

You can’t help but wonder what will be behind that door. You would figure it would be a series of dry walled rooms with typical massage tables and facilities, but you will NEVER imagine what is waiting for you behind that door!

Dolphin Quest, Bermuda

Dolphin Quest

Royal Naval Dockyard

My kids were already jealous enough that I was headed to Bermuda without them for a few nights, but it pushed them over the edge when they found out I was going to also be swimming with dolphins while I was there.  They even told me I might as well change my blog’s name to “My NOT Traveling Kids!”  Sorry kiddos…this was one experience I couldn’t pass up.

Our experience

We took a car to the Royal Naval Dockyard on the tip of the island and made our way into Dolphin Quest. The Royal Naval Dockyard is a converted 200-year-old fort built by the British Royal Navy.

Fourways Inn, Bermuda Review

Last week I was so lucky to head to Bermuda with my friend for four nights without kiddos! Yep…I said it…NO KIDDOS!! Our first stop was the Fourways Inn for two nights. Instead of a tradition hotel building, the inn features a cottage colony, with 11 units to choose from so you feel like a small community rather than just another room in a hotel.

We just saw Mamma Mia 2 and we are still dancing in our seats! Cher was amazing.  The woman never ages! Watching the beautiful Greek islands in the movie made us start reminiscing of our adventures there.  Here’s a look back at the gorgeous island of Santorini:

We always spend the first full day enjoying our hotel and spending time in the sun and sand with our family.  Splash in the pool or head to the closest beach and soak up all the sunshine!

After playing in the sun we had to do a few errands. Since we stayed at a condo, we went to the market to load up on local food to make for breakfasts and lunches. We found a farmer’s market and bought delicious local fruit and vegetables.

After lunch, we rented jet skis on 7 Mile Beach, one of the most beautiful beaches in the Caribbean. With its soft white sand, turquoise water, and calm waves, it’s perfect for sunbathing, swimming, or paddleboarding. Take a leisurely stroll along the shoreline, and don’t forget to snap some photos of the stunning ocean views.
