Warning to my dad…if you’re going to read this, be prepared there are going to be many curses in this piece…lol.  I found a box that I can’t stop telling all my friends about because the items in the box remind me of my friends and I after we’ve been drinking!  It is a perfect balance of snark and charm, with a dash of profanity!  That’s SO US!!! Smartass and Sass is an amazing way to treat yourself every month…and who deserves it more than you?

The creators of the box, Kim and Abby, seem like my kind of people. They call themselves silly weirdos that love to laugh…and they know every word to Wedding Crashers! Don’t they sound fun?!

What comes in each box?

Each Smartass and Sass box has 5-8 handmade, hilarious items. The items have a theme and all of the items relate to it. It includes things like mugs, notebooks, tote bags, water bottles, pens & pencils, magnets, candles, etc.  It has items you probably would never buy yourself but secretly wish someone would buy for you.  It reminds me of getting a care package from your best friend.

Arcopédico Shoes…The Perfect Travel Shoe

Occasionally, I come across a product that I feel I HAVE to share with you.  I wanted to show you my new favorite travel shoe.  It is from a company called Arcopédico.  They have been creating handmade shoes in Portugal since 1966 and are now available in over 40 countries.  Yeah Portugal!!

What do I love about this box?

Since I have two girls, I find it a huge responsibility to empower them to know they are fierce, compassionate, and can do anything they put their minds to.  I love that Sanaya Set, a seasonal subscription box, has a high set of values that mirror my own.  Their company was founded on the premise that each of us can make a positive impact and determine our own future. They feel strongly about intersectional feminism: understanding our overlapping identities and how these factors impact the way we experience oppression and discrimination.

Empowered women empower women!

This is one of the key morals I hope to teach my girls…always build up other women and never push them down.

Sanaya is named after Tarul’s daughter, and it means

 DISTINGUISHED, DIFFERENT IN A GREAT WAY.

What do I love about this box?

Buddhi Box is one of the few subscription boxes I actually subscribe to, and I can barely wait each month for my box to show up! It’s a great reminder to be present and take some time for myself once in a while. Each box focuses on the yoga principles of

COMPASSION, UNITY, DISCOVERY.

 

What comes in each box?

Each box has 4-6 sample and full-size products that are meant to enhance your yoga practice and lifestyle.  Each month you will receive products that enrich mind, body, and soul.  It may include healthy food, beauty products, and yoga accessories.  I’ve gotten some amazing products such as candles, scarves, bath products, and jewelry.  They often include a crystal or gemstone, which is perfect since my oldest daughter collects them. I love that they think it’s important that their vendor partners support sustainable, eco-friendly, and humane practices.

One of favorite ways to spend a summer morning is wandering through the farmer’s market looking at all the local goods.  My Texas Market subscription box brings a Texas farmer’s market right to your door. Their purpose is to help support local small businesses and help vendors expand their market.   I love that a portion of the proceeds are donated to the Houston food bank.

On chilly New England mornings, I love to put my tea kettle on the stove, wrap a soft scarf around my neck, then settle down with a steaming cup of tea while I write.  It’s my morning ritual and it sets the tone for my whole day.  I also love to have a cup of tea right before my kids get home from school.  Whenever possible, I let myself have a half hour to read a book and enjoy some tea before the afternoon gets crazy with homework, sports, and making dinner. Vine Oh! Review

 

Vine Oh!

I like to surround myself with people that have the same values as myself.  And by values, I mean WINE…you’ve got to like wine! I was so happy to review a subscription box from Vine Oh!, but I had no idea what I had coming!  It is pretty much everything I dream about…all in one box. Vine Oh! is a quarterly box that rewards today’s woman to help her recharge, unwind, and have some time just for her.  Are you kidding me?  Someone must have overheard my friends and I complaining over coffee the other day, because this is exactly what we were saying we need a little help with.  Finally, a box that pampers you and allows you to “Treat Yo’ Self” …  sorry…I’ve watched lots of episodes of Parks and Recreation lately.   

What do I love about this box?

First off, I can’t think of too many things I am happier to have delivered to my house than wine.  I almost kissed the delivery guy…almost.  Now add to that some items that every woman would want but probably wouldn’t buy because very often we seem to put others ahead of ourselves.  This box is full of treats just for you, so tell everyone else to lay off! You’ve earned it!

Groovy Lab in a Box Subscription Box

 

Winters in New Hampshire can be brutally cold and although my girls love to play outside, there are days when Mother Nature keeps them in.  This week showed us just how cold it could get, so we decided it would be the perfect time to review Groovy Lab in a Box, a monthly subscription box that focuses on STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math).

What do I love about this box?

My girls love science activities and really like when their school does STEM activities, but unfortunately, as a former teacher, I know there’s no time in the schedule to do much of it.  I love that the purpose of these boxes is to provide children with the opportunity to focus their imagination, determination, and innate inquisitive nature with a monthly STEM project.  The box was a great way for our family to fit in some bonding time while doing fun, hands-on projects.   The box allows families to investigate, brainstorm, plan, build, test, and redesign their own creations.
