Groovy Lab in a Box Subscription Box

 

Winters in New Hampshire can be brutally cold and although my girls love to play outside, there are days when Mother Nature keeps them in.  This week showed us just how cold it could get, so we decided it would be the perfect time to review Groovy Lab in a Box, a monthly subscription box that focuses on STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math).

What do I love about this box?

My girls love science activities and really like when their school does STEM activities, but unfortunately, as a former teacher, I know there’s no time in the schedule to do much of it.  I love that the purpose of these boxes is to provide children with the opportunity to focus their imagination, determination, and innate inquisitive nature with a monthly STEM project.  The box was a great way for our family to fit in some bonding time while doing fun, hands-on projects.   The box allows families to investigate, brainstorm, plan, build, test, and redesign their own creations.

I love surprises and you all know how much I love subscription boxes! Well, why should girls have all the fun? I recently learned about Bespoke, a subscription box for men and I was thrilled to learn all about it! Each box is built around a theme, with the goal of introducing you to something new- a better way to shave, a stylish take on barware, or a new hobby.  I love this idea!  I think it would be a creative Christmas gift since it gives items your man may not give himself.  All the boxes I looked at seemed to contain high quality items. Bespoke was kind enough to give my husband this:

The inspiration behind these bags are stonemasons who would use bags like these to haul their tools for a day’s work.  It is one of their most popular bags and it’s easy to see why.  It’s made with a thick sturdy canvas with a reinforced frame, so I can see my husband using it for years.  Who am I kidding…I plan on stealing it from him for my next trip!

Winc Wine club


Winc

You all know I love getting boxes in the mail, whether it’s a subscription box or a club box, and I do a little twirl at my mailbox when one comes in.  (That may explain a lot to my neighbors!) Well this box had me doing a full cartwheel because Winc is a WINE BOX!!! 

Wine + surprise = Heaven!!

I love to try new wines, but I seem to always go with the same ones.  This personalized wine club is a wonderful way to add some variety to your wine rack. 

So, how does Winc work?

When you first begin, Winc will ask you 6 questions to help them assess your unique taste. Then you sit back, and each month they send you 4 wines specifically chosen to match your palate. After tasting your selection, you rate your wine, so they can get to know your palate even more.  Love red?  That’s fine.  Only want to do white but hate chardonnay? That’s fine too. 

Not everyone loves a surprise, right?  Well that’s fine too because your other option is to select your own wine.  This option gives you all the control.

So, before we go on…I know you’re dying to see what wine I got in my box!!

Green Spa Box

This summer I’ve been trying to focus on relaxing, relieving stress, and nurturing myself.  Green Spa Box is exactly what I’ve been needing.  Their mission is to, “give you all the elements that your skin and body needs to help you disconnect from a busy and hectic work routine with natural/organic and nontoxic products.”

I love that all of their products are free from chemicals and dyes and are kind to the environment.  They are also cruelty-free.  The products are travel size, so they are perfect to put in your carry-on bag for your next trip.

New England’s Finest

 

When I think of New England summers I picture sitting on Adirondack chairs by the lake watching my girls jumping off the dock while the dog digs in the sand.  Life is simple and easy.  Even cooking takes on a new look.  It’s all about cooking on the grill and eating fresh vegetables from the farmers market.  This grilling box from New England’s Finest could not have come at a better time! We loved their box this winter and we couldn’t wait to see what this one held.

What do I love about this box?

New England’s Finest gives each of their boxes a theme.  This for The Grill box could not have come at a better time.  I could se it being a great box for Father’s Day, a housewarming gift, or for that special someone in your life that is a foodie.

Let’s face it…who can’t use a few healthy changes in their life? Sometimes the hardest thing about change is deciding where to start.  The owners of Little Life Box, a monthly health and beauty subscription box, believe in, “taking one healthy step at a time, making decisions you can live with, and changes you feel good about making.” They believe in changing one old habit at a time, making changes when you can.”  

 

What comes in each box?

The box contains up to a dozen health-based items right to your door.  I was beyond thrilled that Little Life Box gave me not only the spring box but also the winter box to review.  When they arrived, I was shocked at how heavy the boxes were.  They were filled to the brim.  I love that! Most of the items were full-size with a few samples thrown in.

Summers are filled with carefree days and spontaneous road trips. However, it is not completely stress-free.  Burglary rates are 10% higher in June, July, and August.  Since so many Americans vacation during summer months, there are many homes left unattended. So how can you protect your home while you’re away? Here are some tips from personal safety coach, Kathleen Baty:

1.     ASSESS YOUR PARIMETER: It’s time to take a good look at your house and make some safety changes.  From the street, can you see the entrance to your house or are shrubs and plants obscuring your view? Motion sensor lights and well-lit paths may deter anyone from hanging around your home. Also, make sure your front porch lights are working.

2.    JUST SAY NO TO SOCIAL MEDIA: When you’re traveling, don’t announce it to the world on social media since that’s just asking for trouble.  Sometimes you may not even realize you’re doing it, like if you advertise for a pet sitter on a public site.  Be smart and save the news of your trip for after you return.

Who deserves to be pampered more than our furry little pup friends? Your dog will love getting a subscription box of their very own and their tails will be wagging when their box comes in the mail each month! The difference between this box and others is Dapper Dog does not have a “one box fits all dogs” attitude.  It caters to each pup as an individual.  Simply fill out your dog’s profile and they will customize it to suit their size, chewing style, and allergies.  We were so happy to review The Dapper Dog Box but no one was happier than Finnegan, our golden retriever that just turned one. 

 

What comes in each box?

Each box contains at least five high quality and healthy goodies for your dog.  Typically, you’ll receive two treats, two toys, and an accessory or chew.  Each box has an average value of $60.

Takeout Kit Review

I often talk about the connection between food and discovering new cultures.  Being Portuguese, where food dictates everyday life, I know you can learn a ton about a culture by eating their food and even more when you have the chance to prepare it yourself.  We were so thrilled to have the chance to try Takeout Kit, a meal kit service that specializes in food from around the globe.  This meal kit is perfect if you want to get out of your comfort zone and try something you never thought you would be able to cook.  My daughter and I loved cooking our dish for the family, and it would also make for a fun date night or a girls’ get-together.
