Cranmore Adventure Park

Cranmore Adventure Park

The White Mountains is the perfect destination since there are countless options to spend time together outdoors as a family. Cranmore Adventure Park allows all members of the family to participate in the activities.  There really is something for everyone! We were lucky enough to spend the day making memories on the mountain.

Here are 10 of our favorite things to do at Cranmore Adventure Park:

1.     MOUNTAIN COASTER: Our absolute favorite ride at the park is the mountain coaster and we keep going back for more! Since each rider controls how fast they go, it is perfect for the entire family.

We love soaring through the woods with the petal all the way down and speed around the turns!

2.    SOURING EAGLE: It’s a good thing you can sit next to someone you know because it would be a little embarrassing if a complete stranger heard me screaming my head off like I do on this ride.  The ride is like a zip line with a seat.  Sounds pleasant doesn’t it? Now picture that seat propelling 700 feet down a mountainside!  Terrifying and exciting all at once!

3.    GIANT SWING:  On this ride, 3 people would have to hear me scream! I actually didn’t go on this one.  I put it off until the end but was worried I’d feel sick.  You slowly rise until suddenly you are let go and the swing rises back up and back down until finally it stops.  I can’t believe how many times my kids can go on this ride.

4.    BUNGY TRAMPOLINE:  My girls loved doing flips and trying to see how high they could get.  The staff working the trampolines were encouraging and helpful, so my girls felt so successful!  My pictures were blurry, but these were from last summer.

5.    SUMMER TUBING:  We love to go tubing at Cranmore in winter, so we loved doing it in the middle of July!  What a unique concept! Plus…excuse my laziness…I love that you just stand on a conveyer belt and it does all the work pulling you up 400 feet to the top.

6.    CHAIR LIFT: You know I’m not a huge fan of heights, but the views were so peaceful that I almost forgot I was on a chairlift.  Who am I kidding?  I definitely knew I was on one, but once on the top, the views of North Conway and Mount Washington made it all worth it.

For me, it is less scary going down than going up.

7.    SUMMIT HIKE:  How cool is it that you get to enjoy the views from the top of a mountain without having to climb to the top.  (Boy…I sound really lazy today!) There is a ½ mile loop around the summit that offers some amazing photo opportunities.  If my husband were here we would have done the 1-mile hiking path to Black Cap Mountain, but I don’t take the girls on long hikes alone.  I’ve watched too many Lifetime movies that have made me paranoid.   This short hike is perfect.

8.    CLIMBING WALL: What I like best about this activity is there are different routes marked off for beginners and extreme climbers.  I love that Cranmore makes modifications, so the entire family can participate together.

9.    SUMMIT MEISTER HUT: After a morning of playing, we couldn’t think of a better place to eat lunch! We enjoyed our meal while enjoying views of Moat Mountain and the Presidential Mountain Range. My girls had grilled cheese sandwiches with bacon and tomato that looked incredible.  I had a wonderful cobb salad with grilled chicken on it. We were so excited to get a table outside.  Just look at this view!

10.  SPIDER MOUNTAIN: I didn’t try this activity, but my girls loved it.  You climb to the top through netting.  It looks so much easier than it actually is.  The best part is you get to slide down after you get to the top.

Aerial Course

Today we didn’t go on the aerial course, but my older daughter did it by herself on her 11th birthday while we watched her because we were too chicken to do it.  (Ugh…heights!  Wish I liked them!) It has 8 individual courses for different ability levels so there are plenty of ways to challenge yourself.  The course includes ladders, rope bridges, cargo nets, and more.

Tips for Planning Your Day:

The chairlift runs daily from 11am-4:30 daily.

WEAR CLOSED-TOED SHOES because they are required for most of the rides!

You need to participate in Ground School at the beginning of each aerial adventure.  It lasts about 30 minutes and you must do it, even if you’ve done the course before.

Bring a snack to enjoy at the top of the mountain.  Better yet, get some ice cream!  It’s also a great place to have a beer!

Make sure you have a camera to capture the views from the top of the mountain.

We spent 5 hours doing just the adventure park and having lunch at the top.

Meister Hut open daily June 16- Labor Day

Monday – Saturday 11am-4pm

Sunday 10am – 4pm
