Itinerary for a Weekend in Mystic, CT

Weekend in Mystic, CT

Located half way between Boston and New York City, this charming seaside town in Connecticut is the perfect place for a weekend getaway.  Mystic has a fierce connection to the sea and you’ll be drawn to it as you explore the town.  A weekend visit to this town filled with New England charm, is the perfect way to recharge as a family.  Here is one way to spend your weekend.  Enjoy!

FRIDAY AFTERNOON

Check into the Hilton mystic.  It has the best location since it right across the street from the aquarium and great shops.

(Click here to read all about our stay here.)

Which leads me to the first stop…Olde Mystic Village.  Have fun poking into some of the 50 adorable shops and restaurants set in a colonial-style compound.  It’s a great place to shop and unwind from your drive.  There are plenty of shops that kids will love to go into.

Dinner:  Since you’re already at Olde Mystic, why not dine at Go Fish. I recommend the shellfish paella.

After dinner, head back to the hotel and go for a swim!

SATURDAY

After having breakfast at the hotel, walk across the street to the Mystic Aquarium.

(Click here to read all about our experience at the aquarium.)

Lunch: Head over to Mango’s Wood-Fired Pizza.  Try The Jake pizza.

Take a 15-minute drive to New London to take a 1-Hour Sailfest Harbor Cruise.  Sit back and enjoy the spectacular views of the Connecticut coastline.  https://mysticwhalercruises.com/

Dinner: Head downtown for an unforgettable meal at S&P Oyster Co, which is located on the Mystic River.  Make a reservation and, if weather permits, ask for a table outside.  The kids will love watching boats go by and see the Mystic River Bascule Bridge, a drawbridge build in 1920, rise up every hour.

Dessert:  Skip dessert at the restaurant and head over to Mystic Drawbridge Ice Cream.  They have some fun flavors like Sticky Fractured Finger, Jamaican Me Nutty, and Seaport Salty Swirl.

SUNDAY

Spend the day at Mystic Seaport. (Click here to read all about our day here.)
