Freeport, Maine Itinerary: Day 2

After a wonderful night’s sleep, it is time to explore more of Freeport, Maine. Are you ready for day 2?

Freeport, Maine: Day 2

Grab Some Breakfast

You never know what to expect with breakfast, but at the Harraseeket Inn breakfast is no joke.  They have a huge selection of eggs, home fries, blueberry pancakes, yogurts, pastries, fresh fruit, and much more.  You must try their granola! It was the perfect way to start the day.

Get Ready to Shop

As much as you may want to read a book by the fireplace, you’re on a mission…to shop! Lucky for you (but maybe not as lucky for your wallet) you are at the mecca of outlet stores! You’ll love poking into the small boutiques and strolling downtown.

Some of my favorite places to shop include:

Fiore (artisan oils and vinegars)

The Blue Lobster (great souvenirs)

Mexicali Blues (unique jewelry and home décor)

Georgetown Pottery (Maine-made décor)

Sea Bags (made from old sails)

Maine Wicked Good Mercantile (wonderful gifts)

Island Treasure Toys (a fun toy store)

Your last stop of the morning is to Wilbur’s of Maine, one of my all-time favorite candy stores. They offer an amazing tour of the factory…with tons of samples along the way.  Book ahead if they are offering them when you’re there.

Time for Lunch!

When in Maine, you’ll have to eat a lobster roll…it’s required.  Linda Beans Perfect Maine Lobster roll is a wonderful grab-and-go place for lunch.  Find a nice spot outside of LL Bean and do some people watching as you eat.

88 Main Street

Explore More of Freeport

Even if you don’t like shopping, make some time to explore LL Bean.  It is open 24 hours a day…they don’t even have locks on the doors! There are aquariums, ponds, and lots of wild animals…ok…these are stuffed…but still cool to look at.

After exploring LL Bean, try out one of their classes.  I loved doing their archery class.  They teach you the basic skills and techniques needed to shoot a bow.  After meeting your instructor, you learn some basic safety instructions, learn about the bow and target area, are given instructions demonstrations, and then it’s your turn to practice shooting your recurve bow.

Next, drive over to Pineland Farm, which is right outside of Freeport.  It is a quintessential New England farm with stunning views! Pineland Farm is a 5,000-acre working farm that welcomes visitors to enjoy its beautiful rural landscape.

15 Farm View Drive, New Gloucester

Last stop for the afternoon is Wicked Whoopies where you’ll find the best whoopie pies on the planet! They have a huge variety.  Pumpkin is my favorite!

100 Main Street

What’s for Dinner?

Take a walk over to Tuscan Brick Oven Bistro for some of the most delicious wood-oven pizza in Maine.  The brick décor inside is lovely, but the outdoor seating is my choice. They have a great cocktail selection including a yummy Sour Apple Sangria. They have lots of unique pizza choices including my favorite, the Black & Blue.  It’s a confit garlic, caramelized onion jam, shaved roasted prime sirloin, mozzarella, asiago, pecorino, gorgonzola, and parsley.  It is to die for!

After Dinner Cocktail

Head back to the inn, grab a cocktail from the bar, and sit outside by the fire.  It’s the perfect way to end the night!
