Olive and June Nail Polish Review

Every week in October I will be having a Travel Beauty Tuesday, where I feature some amazing beauty products that I have been using. This week is all about Olive & June, my new nail polish obsession!

When I travel, I often end up at the spa treating myself to a manicure or pedicure.  Since this pandemic has begun, I have missed getting pampered and having my nails colored.  I hate that so many polishes chip just days after using them, and I am always looking for ones that last a long time. I have been stalking following Olive and June on Instagram, drooling over their amazing colors, and I was thrilled when I got the chance to work with them.

WHAT DID I RECEIVE?

I was so excited to get The Everything Box. ($80)

Let me show you what came in it!

6 of their ‘7-free’ polishes: (Gotta love a clean polish…) Check out these fantastic colors:

WKF: A cool mossy green (I’ve been dying for this color ever since I first laid eyes on it!)

KMC: a neutral sage green (Has a white undertone in it, which looks great on most skin tones)

HD: clean, crisp white polish (I’m obsessed with white, especially for accent nails and toes)

CN: A silky sable brown. (Perfect for fall.)

HJ: A shimmering inky navy. (My favorite dark).

AW: A warm toned grey. (It’s the perfect neutral.)

The Poppy universal polish bottle handle.  Their patented polish bottle handle makes painting your own nails easier and faster. All you do is pop it on top of your favorite polish for a comfy grip, more control, and even, steady strokes.

Top Coat: This super shiny top coat is the last step to give a protective coat and keep your mani looking fresh for 7+ days.

Nourishing Cuticle Serum with cactus flower. It is hydrating and soothing to your cuticles, is fast absorbing, is non-greasy, helps repair skin, and has a soft sponge tip.

Nail polish remover pot to erase old polish and prep nails.  I like that it is an acetone-free formula that is kind to nails and cuticles, and is mess-free. (I need more things in my life to be mess-free!)

Clean-up brush for easy touch-ups.  This tool is great for cleaning up stray polish or creating straight lines and edges.

Flat-edge nail clipper have a flat edge to create your ideal shape.

Dual-grit nail file has both a fine and course grit side.

Buffer cube for buffing and smoothing.

WHY TRAVELERS WILL LOVE THEM

I love the selection of colors!  They have great neutrals, metallics, pastels, reds, brights, sheers, etc.  There are so many that can be paired together to create accent nails or fun French manicures.  I really like their top coat and I reapplied it after a few days. I am hard on my nails and have been doing lots of projects around my house, and these polishes took a beating but still looked perfect after a week.  My daughters also used the nail polishes and they were playing sports, swimming, and doing crafts and they also lasted a week.

STEPS FOR A PERFECT MANICURE…

Step 1:  Using your clipper and nail file, cut your nails to the desired shape and then file them in one direction.  They suggest using the 90/10 rule… cut 90% and then file 10%.  They recommend doing this while you still have old color on your nails.

Step 2: Dip, buff, dip.  Dip your nails into the nail polish remover to take off old color and excess oils.  Next, use the buffer to lightly smooth out ridges and edges.  Buff the whole nail.  Final step is very important…dip your nails back in the nail polish remover and then don’t touch them again! Prep is everything, so don’t skip any steps if you want your polish to last.

Step 3: Put the poppy on your bottle and apply 2-3 coats of polish.  Make sure you allow your nails to fully dry before brushing on another coat.  Then relax and let them dry!  You do NOT need a base coat with Olive and June polish.

Step 4: Tidy up.  Using your clean-up brush, get rid of any imperfections or slips you may have made.

Step 5: Top coat time! Add a top coat every two to three days.

Step 6: Last step is to apply the cuticle serum around your nails.  They suggest you never cut your cuticles unless you are in a salon, but you could push them back when you are in the shower.  The serum finishes everything off.

And there you go…a perfect salon quality manicure that will last you about a week!
