Story Land: Fun for the whole family in the White Mountains

No matter how crazy our summer gets, we always set aside a day to head to Story Land, a tradition we’ve had since the girls were babies.  Fast forward a decade later and we are still having fun as a family.  Take a peek into our fun day at Storyland:

First stop is always taking a picture with Humpty Dumpty.  We take one every year here and love to look back on when they were little.

Now on to the what my kids are here for…the rides! Here are some of our favorites:

Roar-O-Saurus: A fun wooden roller coaster that is the fastest ride in the park.

Antique Cars: I finally get to sit back and let my kids ride me around.

They may want to get their driver’s license while they’re there.

Bamboo Shoots: A fun water ride with a big splash at the end!

Dr. Geyser’s Remarkable Raft Ride: Hop on this ride and get ready to get a little wet.

Splash Battle, Pharaoh’s Reign: I went on this ride for the first time today.  I’ve always been a little apprehensive since you get soaked!

Los Bravos Silver Mine: One of our favorites! It’s more of an experience than a ride.

Cinderella’s Castle:  Although this is no longer a stop of ours, my girls loved visiting with Cinderella when they were younger.

Crazy Barn: This cute ride lifts you up from the ground and spins you like you’re in a tornado.

Huff Puff & Whistle Railroad:  This is the perfect ride when you need your little guys to get off their feet for a bit.

Flying Fish:  Always a favorite since they were kids.

Rap-Tour Safari:  Have any dinosaur lovers in your family?  If so, they’ll love taking this safari tour to search for some dinosaurs hidden in the woods.

Kids will love seeing the fairy tale animals like the Three Little Pigs

And climbing right into the storybooks.

Adults will appreciate the gorgeous flowers all around the park.  They seem to get better every year!

Time to get something to eat!

There are several options for food, but we like to head over to Friends Around the World Food Fair.  They offer food such as Burgers, Hot Dogs, Grilled Cheese, Fries, Chicken Tenders, Pizza, Macaroni & Cheese, Wraps, Salads, and more.

What would a day at an amusement park be if you didn’t make time for snacks?

There are several places to get treats such as Dippin’ Dots, Slush, Soft Serve Ice Cream, Shaved Ice, and more.

We always stop and get some old fashion candy from the Yum Yum Junction on our way out.

There are several special activities you can do at Story Land, but we never did them.  They look fun though and I bet my kids would have loved doing them when they were younger.  Some options include:

Character dinners

Tea Time with Cinderella

Fairy Tale Training 101 (this is new this year)

When doing an amusement park with kids, it’s always a good idea to stop throughout the day to take a rest and let the kids get off their feet.  A fun way to rest is to watch a show.  The park has several including:

Camp Fairy Tale

The Royal Red Carpet

It’s Magic

Daniel Tiger’s Grr-ific Day

Character Cove

Tips for having a great day at Storyland:

Story Land

850 NH Route 16

(603) 383-4186

There is plenty of free parking at the park.

Buy your tickets online.  They are cheaper and you will avoid waiting in line.

You can bring your own food/drinks into the park, so it’s fine to pack a lunch or bring in snacks.

Fridays & Sundays generally have lighter visitor counts, while Saturday is usually the busiest day of the week.

Help your little ones from getting tired feet by renting a stroller.

Single Stroller: $7.00 per day

Double Stroller: $9.00 per day

There are lockers available near some of the water rides.  They cost $0.50 and they fit a small bag.

Traveling with your furry friends? The park offers FREE pet kennels.  I’ve never used them before and I haven’t seen them, so I can’t recommend them, but it may be something you’d like to look into.  They only have 26 kennels, are available on a first come, first served basis and they don’t take reservations.

A warm thank you to Story Land for having us as your guests.  It was a wonderful way to end the summer and we can’t wait until next year to return! As always, all opinions and experiences are 100% of MyTravelingKids.com.
